Right.  Washington, affair capital of the world.  Who resigns for having an affair?  And if it does happen, it's after the dirt has come out, not before.

If he did resign to spend time with his wife & family, to try and make amends, then good for him.

But with Benghazi hanging over him and what he knows about it,  red flags are a-raising.

According to a line in the Journal article, "According to the NCAA, 43% of the 120 schools in the Football Bowl Subdivision lost money on their programs."   If that's the case, then it's incumbent upon university deans, trustees to make solid economic judgments as to whether to continue the programs.  However, calling for a wholesale ban on college football?  What's next, basketball?  Golf?  Track & Field?

There are plenty of colleges and universities that are known for their academic excellence.  It's up to the students and their parents to do their due diligence and make the right choice for them.   Buzz is entitled to his opinion, but just far are we going to carry this nanny state.

Good grief.  I'm an IL voter whom the Sun Times termed as the 'GOP firewall.'  I applaud Mr. Santorum for adhering to his principles,  however, and a big however, I watched all the Republican debates, and I still remember the debate where Rick answered a question about abortion and the doctors who perform them.  His answer was that he would criminalize performing abortions, including those instances involving rape and incest.  He. Lost. Me.  And his "bridge to nowhere" vote was as bad as Obama's Keystone decision.  He's the sanctimonious version of Gore, and that doesn't play well in the suburbs, which will be one of the primary battlegrounds of this election.

As much as VPs go to funerals and such, they are also "one heartbeat away from the Presidency."  One comment that Newt Gingrich made resonated with me, because he articulated my thinking.  When he was asked how he would choose his VP, he said his first criteria was to find someone (to paraphrase) who was READY to take over the job.

Say Mitt chooses Marco, Mitt wins, Mitt dies. Do I honestly believe that Marco has the smarts to be President?

If Romney, and I believe the nominee will be Romney, chooses an "elder statesman" similar to George W, chose Cheney,  that shows he's not grandstanding to the Latino vote, but is serious about the choosing someone who has the wisdom and experience to take over.  And that also leaves Ryan and Rubio more time to develop.

So, maybe Kyl, maybe Tom Coburn.  Maybe he needs a "slightly" conservative/conservative who will appeal to the Red State, evangelical constituency because he's doing so poorly among them (but they'll get out the vote and vote).

Romney wants this win badly, so I think he will give the VP choice real thought.  You notice Condaleeza said no.
