Blue Yeti: This has been an ongoing issue and the probes is on Stitcher's side, not ours, which makes it impossible for us to troubleshoot on our own. That said, Stitcher is aware of the problem and are trying to fix it. The workaround is to subscribe to the shows you want individually. Sorry for the inconvenience. · 29 minutes ago
Thanks Yeti.
Their customer service is pretty pathetic as well. I have emailed them a couple of times, and have never received a response.
Not at all. For a while it was the only show I bothered to watch. Alec Baldwin sounds like he's an absolute power tool in life but he is perfect in that role.
I also don't think it's too surprising after reading her book. Her father - who she adores and I believe identifies as the perfect male role model - is Republican.
I haven't watched it much recently (is it still on?). It seemed like it was starting to run out of gas.
I disagree. We've got surrogates that are funny but the only people that hear them are political junkies like us. The only way for us to break through the fog of disinterested voters is if the candidate does it.
I don't know enough about Rand Paul. My admittedly ignorant impression is of being disgusted with, well, everything. I agree about Rubio. I think he's great but I wouldn't consider him a happy warrior. Ted Cruz is similar - obviously smart but maybe a bit too earnest.
And humor is critical to the right because we are the wet blankets at the party. Any dork can be popular (for a time) by telling everyone they can drink all his parent's booze for free. But it takes some charm to tell everyone they have to bring their own, and not have them leave.
Christie has shown he can do that with humor. Ryan to some degree. Who else?
Not sure if I am too late to the conversation but I think the most naturally humorous of the leading contenders in 2016 is Christie. I know that he's considered the He-who-must-not-be-named to many in these parts but he is, and I don't think it's even close.
So, Chris Christie can be invited to speak at the Ronald Reagan Library but he's not conservative enough to speak at CPAC?
I guess it depends on whether you want CPAC to be a mutual-admiration society or a debate.
Personally, I would love to see some forums such as the Reagan Library begin something akin to the old Firing Line debates.
Let's put Rick Perry and Rand Paul and Bobby Jindal and Chris Christie and whoever else together now, and ask them to debate people that don't agree with them.
Preaching only to the choir creates soft candidates.
My father has never been one to watch television unless it's sports. So I had to convince him to stop and watch the Cheers episode where Cliff has decided he cannot move to Canada with his girlfriend Margaret.
Margaret: But Cliff, it'll be so terrible. I'll, I'll be so cold and all alone. Who will keep me warm?
Cliff: You'll do fine Margaret. Women have that extra layer of fat.
I've never seen him laugh so hard.
20 years later, I was trying to think of a Father's Day present, and got him Season 1 of Cheers on DVD. It was a huge hit.
I'm not sure if Rob wrote that but whoever did, thanks.
For what it's worth - I'm in the Market Research business (surveys, data analysis, market segmentation, etc.) and would be glad to help gratis in any way I can.
Feel free to send me an email if you want more information or to discuss further.
I've also always thought you guys should design a logo for merchandise that incorporates the person's membership date like Delaware license plates. It's probably logistically cost-prohibitive but just an idea.
Well, I live in a purple part of NY so foils aren't too hard to come by but the more the merrier. As far as enthusiasm, I'd much rather have Romney's enthusiasm than Obama's at the moment. And the fact that many conservatives are more excited about the prospect of getting rid of the other guy than inserting their own is common to both parties - although probably more prevalent among conservatives given our natural distrust of gummint.
Either way, it's all noise until the big day.
My biggest concern regarding media bias is the structural imbalance it introduces. There is no feedback loop on one side of the equation. I think the one genius that Obama has displayed is an understanding of just how far he can go without incurring the wrath (if you can call it that) of the press. And if he is rewarded for that, what will the next guy try?
Richard Stewart: I'm with Mr. Domenech, of course.I'm always interested to hear the contrarian, too. Who takes Mr. Silver's reasoning seriously? (Hint-hint to Pig Man, aka "the loyal opposition...") · 42 minutes ago
If Romney wins I will admit that Nate Silver and almost all the polls were wrong. I will do it right here on richochet. If Romney loses are you all willing to do the same about Ben and your predictions or are you going to blame the lame stream media for biasing the electorate against him and ignoring Benghazi? Most of you don't even seem to consider the possiblity that that might happen. · 26 minutes ago
Pig Man - do you think that the press is covering for Obama on Benghazi?
I really do. I was willing to view it as differences of opinion leading to differences in attention earlier but I just can't explain the total lack of coverage of this compared to, say, Abu Ghraib.
If Obama wins, I do think it will be in large part because of the press. Do you disagree?
Give Biden credit. He did what the left wanted him to do which was hammer the 47% point. He also stuck facts into the debate that Ryan had to address that kept Ryan from going on offense. That's what skilled debaters do.
The two were so differenet that I don't think you can score a winner. And I'm not sure the other side was as interested in winning as it was in getting some mojo working (by the way - that's not a cop out, I really don't think it matters). In that respect, Joe did what he needed to do.
It's now up to Romney to slam the lid shut and remind people that (dare I say) Barack Obama is no Joe Biden.
