Here is the Treasury Inspector General Report, with revisions and redactions, released to the public.  Mostly it is impossible to tell what has been redacted, but one redaction is significant:  the start date and activity for the timeline of events on page 13.  The first significant event, redacted, was before April 2010.  Notably, the cover letter to the report says,

The IRS’s response also states that issues discussed in the report have been resolved. We disagree with this statement as well.

The report (revised and redacted, anyway) names no names.

Re: IRS Fail

My initial reaction was to give credit to the IRS for apologizing.  Then I found out the the apology was a cynical attempt to soften the blow of an upcoming Inspector General report disclosing the IRS terrorism of tea party groups.

I should have known.

Mr. Bildo

Question to my Christian friends: with respect, doesn't this sound a little "off"? Although I remain an atheist, I spent many years in and around churches and people of faith. This man's confession seems to be the kind of stuff people generally prefaced with a word of caution. I can picture the cringe moment in the pews when Mr. Wright grabs the mic and starts talking about faith healing and visits by ghosts. · 16 hours ago

Off?  No.  Not to us Pentacostals, anyway.  Why should it?  If you believe in God, as we do, is there anything that God cannot do?  There many examples of miraculous healing if you look for them.

As to atheism generally, read I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist by Geisler and Turek, or any of the Case for ... books by former atheist Lee Strobel.

I do not foreclose the possibility that the NY Times made it up and the author does not understand enough about revolvers to describe it realistically.

David Carroll

I'm sorry.  Inept and inert does not describe our federal bureaucracy to me.  I need a neologism that combines liars, thugs and thieves, because that is my experience with the federal bureaucracy.  I think "thugs" stands out among the three characteristics.

David Carroll

I yield.

It would take an army of leftists to twist "EVER" and "NOT swearing" into a violation of the Ricochet Code of Conduct.  I understand the all caps prohibition to apply to something longer than a single word.

Feel free to report me to Rob Long.  I will take all the lashes of his instrument  of torture that he may dish out in punishment.

David Carroll

Criticism for using all caps (for emphasis) is not criticism for  not swearing, though, is it?

David Carroll

What?  The Obama administration lied to us?  I'm shocked.

David Carroll

No one EVER criticizes someone for NOT swearing.

Feel all the compassion that you want as long as it does not interfere with pulling the lever on the electric chair.

One would think that Mass. folks have to be tough when they are not allowed proper weapons for self defense.  But still, I have a problem with tough folks "sheltering in place."

Tough folks would be going about their daily lives, not allowing some piece-of-crap, on-the-run, 19-year-old terrorist to disrupt them.  That would be toughness, to my way to thinking.

David Carroll

How "tough" is a place that completely shuts down for a manhunt of a single individual?  Just askin'.

David Carroll

So, the Boston police think that terrorists should have gun permits before committing acts of terrorism?  Is that what we are supposed to understand from the report?

David Carroll

Uncle Ruslan's comments should be contrasted with those of CAIR who expresses sympathy for the victims without denouncing the terrorism.  CAIR denounces the "Islamophobia" they expect from the whole incident.
