Bio

Hello. I´m a proud U.S. citizen living in Barcelona. It´s a great and beautiful city, but very hard for a North American to adapt to. The political mentality and social atmosphere is quite different from that of the States, so table talk can be a little complicated.

But I was fortunate enough to discover Ricochet. It is a genuine relief to find such a great community like this on the net.

Nobody talked about it better than this man..

He should have been the first black president.

Daniel Perez

Boy. You are so right on that one.

Nobody likes a weak horse. If there was one thing that right-wingers had before, it was the image that they were the cool tough guys and not the wimps.

Daniel Perez

..just give him  time and he´ll get over that pesky little "two term" bump.

.. a background singer?

Hahaha.. this is top-notch. It makes me so proud to be born and raised in Jersey.

"I had just the same opportunities that Michael Jordan had..".

Sowell always knocks it out of the park, and nobody sparks up an intelligent conversation quite like Mr. Robinson.

This is the man who eventually won me over. It´s funny how much my life has improved just by reading his work, not only on a personal but also on a professional level. I am forever grateful.

Tom Lindholtz: Judging by the conversation over here, Obama probably just locked up Fred Cole's vote.  ;-) · 19 minutes ago

I think Fred has some bigger issues with the One. · 1 minute ago

If I was going to vote based solely on marriage equality, I'd still be voting for Gary Johnson. · 2 minutes ago

Hahaha.. Well put!

I love that movie sooo much!!!

Thanks for quoting it.

"In Europe, it is considered "profound" to be depressed.." Hahaha, this is sooo true.

Brilliant man.

Daniel Perez

Well, that just about sums it up!

After having lived in Europe for many years, all I can say is this is the exact strategy used in many of its countries. I haven´t been to all unfortunately, but this video reflects the standard mindset of all those that I am familiar with.. and life is not going well on this side of the Atlantic at all.

Viator: Why the snooze, that IS the question.

1) Much of the ruling class, the European nomenklatura,  are deeply involved in the Keynesian multicultural social democratic EU experiment. They believe in the efficacy and virtue of their labor.  They will not go gently into that good night.

2) Many others are on the receiving end of the statist spigot.  There is  fear of disabusing them. They are and will continue to be very unhappy as the flow stops.

....

Wow, you really hit the nail on the head.

After having lived in Spain for quite some time (please don´t ask me why), I can only say that you have just said exactly what I was about to mention.

You also expressed it with more precision than I could have ever had. This is why I am so grateful for Ricochet.

I´m picking up Claire´s book a.s.a.p., and would really love to read more posts about this topic in particular.

Franco: This is a result of living in an echo-chamber. When you have the Executive Branch with all its power, AND the MSM falling all over itself for your spin, you are going to end up with a distorted vision of reality. · 14 minutes ago

My thoughts exactly.

Dan Hanson: Funny Conservatives/Libertarians:

Trey Parker and Matt Stone (Southpark)

Thank you so much!!! I was going to mention this.. They are huge and at the peak of their powers. Love them or hate them, they are certainly not liberal nor leftists. And by the way, they are really huge all over the world.

I would also like to mention the show Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn and Jim Norton, which was a really great show and definitely not liberal.

And why didn´t anybody mention the Great One? I am amazed that noone has mentioned him. Best sense of humor, ever.

Great topic, by the way.

I'll claim it's "Strategic Projection".

Yes and no. Politicians and many pundits do it strategically. But everyday liberals (voters) do it because they are lemmings or because, as Daniel says, they never grew out of the teenage mentality that always assumes other people are at fault. · 15 hours ago

Indeed, there is a  difference between the lefty operatives and regular liberal voters, and it is significant. The lefty operatives incorporate Strategic Projection as they define the narrative, and regular liberal voters tend to follow the narrative.

Still, it's a very powerful and efficient mechanism.

And conservatives, unfortunately, have nothing close. · Mar 24 at 12:09am

True. So very true.

Daniel Perez: Actually, now that I think about it... Bill Whittle was on right on the money about this topic, where, actually, we kinda suck. It's somewhat of a very condensed version of Sowell'sA Conflict of Visions.

It really defines the issue here, and really hits home on why liberals don't like us. · 2 hours ago

DutchTex: After reading Liberal Fascism for the second time, I'm going to go with the theory that this is actually a serious case of projection

Agreed. Liberals are guilty of everything they accuse conservatives of being. · 8 hours ago

I'll claim it's "Strategic Projection".

Ie., intentional.  And a remarkably effective offensive strategy.

Yes, remarkable it is.. Even when they lose, they win.

I´m not so sure if it is intentional though. I find it to be more of a reflex, something you would expect from a teenager or a child for example.

Although, I may be wrong.
