Bio

I am the eldest of seven children, a daughter/sister/aunt/great-aunt/niece; committed prayer-partner, retiree who's worked as a certified hospital chaplain.  I am Roman/Latin Catholic. I'm a Republican by registration; a 'theocon/values voter' by self-definition. The so-called "life issues" are of foundational importance to me. I read voraciously, cross-stitch periodically. I listen to everything - especially the flagship Podcast among others and the "Song of the Day" here.   One of my joys is weekly participation in the Member Audio Meetup. HvA:  The weekend was spent at an iconography workshop led by my pastor and an evening Confirmation Mass for one of my nieces...Glorious!  Thanks for asking!

Casey, may I mention a category?  "Emo/Whiny" in the Singer-Songwriter/Soft Rock genre...And *almost anything* by Billy Joel.  Underplayed: 50s and 60s "mood music".  Thanks for keeping the light on for me!

Well said, DocJoe...Thanks, as ever!

Nanda Panjandrum

Matt, Welcome back! and Welcome Home! (I, too, *must have* Mona and Jay...)

Nanda Panjandrum

Looking forward to listening as a newcomer...(Thanks to CuriousJohn for a long-ago recommendation.)

Nanda Panjandrum

Way classy, Pen; Ann, too...Funny!

Re: Courage

Not *quite* sure of the proper attribution for this (everywhere from the Early Church Fathers to a 19th-century clergyman), but: "To all whom you meet, be kind; everyone is fighting a hard battle." seems to fit this lady well...Grace and truth is what I see.  Thanks, Doc!

Nanda Panjandrum

Me, too, Pen!  Thanks for the heads-up...

My takeaways from this "thread-a-palooza": "Bah!" to "cronyism" (capitalist or otherwise).  "Huzzah!" to spirited debate...[Just back from providing prayer support at a parish iconography workshop - Glorious!], so: Peace...and I'm out.

Nanda Panjandrum

Looking forward to the experience!

Serial nepotism, anyone?

Nanda Panjandrum

Doc, The Telegraph, or *any* secular media outlet *gets* what the Pope *means* in what he says?! Puh-leeze!...As Paul Ryan said in the inaugural "Future of the Right" podcast - and has been mentioned here - Francis is not speaking  on faith and morals...The realm of economics is one of "prudential judgment".  If writing thus confirms that I might possibly be a 'prude', so be it.

KC: Re #82, thanks for some light amidst the heat. [self-edit]

Intricately beautiful and inspiring  in its devotional purpose.  Thank you, Casey!

Re: #6 Pen, may I say that it's Roman's *portrayal* that induced levity, not this scandalous situation's particulars?  In that regard, I wholeheartedly concur with you.

Nanda Panjandrum

A classic, Roman!

Nanda Panjandrum

Roman, you've *captured* the whole problem here...and made me laugh. Thank you!
