Bio

I am the eldest of seven children, a daughter/sister/aunt/great-aunt/niece; committed prayer-partner, retiree who's worked as a certified hospital chaplain.  I am Roman/Latin Catholic. I'm a Republican by registration; a 'theocon/values voter' by self-definition. The so-called "life issues" are of foundational importance to me. I read voraciously, cross-stitch periodically. I listen to everything - especially the flagship Podcast among others and the "Song of the Day" here.   One of my joys is weekly participation in the Member Audio Meetup. Check it out - and Join Us!

Thoughtful, Ryan...I have to agree with MFR in#19, optimism and hope are very different.  Optimism often seems at cross purposes with reality - whistling past the graveyard.  Christian hope is free to acknowledge the existence of pain and sorrow while singing "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth".  An important distinction, at work in my life daily.

Wonderful, Lynn...Thank you!

The T-Bones' "No Matter What Shape Your Stomach's In" for Alka-Seltzer; The Tijuana Brass's  "The Teaberry [Cinnamon] Shuffle" for Clark's  Teaberry Gum; The "Big Mac Song"; Paul Anka's "The Times of Your Life" for Kodak...Memories, memories.

Stew, your bravery is astounding - Durian - Wow!  Mangosteen, on the other hand, yum-yum...

Days of pride, prayer, remembrance and gratitude...Reminded also of service members - and families - whose lives have been radically altered by their service, who mourn for what was/what might have been.  Calling down peace, healing and consolation, as well.

Thanks to Dave, and all our RicoWarriors, past and present!

The General Intercessions of the Good Friday Commemoration include the following: "We pray for those who do not believe in God...Despite whatever obstacles may stand in their way, may they come to knowledge of the truth by sincerely following all that is right."  This refers to the natural law written on the human heart, and seems to be that to which Pope Francis alludes.
