Rick Blaskovich: I think you have some great points Doug. My biggest concern with Romney is that he takes some of the main debate issues off the table, like Obamacare, the contraception mandate and Cap and Trade. Those are monster issues. His focus on the economy alone could prove to back fire. Then what? Everyone here knows how important this election is, and to have a guy that plays dirty little liberal tricks and then tries to run to the right of true conservatives in the race is a recipe for total failure. · 13 hours ago

What focus on the economy alone?

James, you are wrong. I'm sorry but your facts are wrong. Site them and I will believe. Romney had a famous habit as, Gov of Mass, to relinquishing to the courts on tough Constitutional decisions when he didn't have the political courage to do so, period!

Thomas Sowell comes to mind.

he's also making robo calls in Michigan from 2008 that states Santorum endorsing Romney. He even campaigns like a Lib.

You are your own person. No one can force you to lecture anyone on anything. Sounds like you are surrounded by a bunch of libtards at school. Ignore them and soldier on. Your, very important, job is to help all people for whatever situation they may be in, regardless of how they got there.  If you want to inject your values on a patient, make sure you have their consent. Otherwise, be compassionate, and hold your head up high in the fact that you chose a very noble profession.

Ron Paul is a racist bigot that still believes in the articles of confederation. He also believes in succession. This I find both disturbing and stupid. His message on the economy is a flat attempt, at best, on reality. Everyone knows that the Fed is acting in a destructive capacity. My question is, is that what ingenious idea does he have to replace it with.  It not only acts as our monetary police, but is the lender of last resort around the world. He is not who you think he is. Google his newsletters of the early 1990's.  You will be shocked to say the least.

Claire Berlinski, Ed.: Nah. I've spent a lot of time doing martial arts and around people who do martial arts. In a fight, sure, you want them around. Any situation besides a fight? You can count on them about as much as you can count on anyone, no more, no less. And trust me, some of them you can count on a lot less.  · Dec 17 at 5:09am

I'm not talking about martial arts I have done martial arts, most of those people would get their butts kicked in a street fight, most of them, not all. I'm talking about people that live in the real world, people who have skinned their knees and their parents did not sue the play park manufactures. Guys who play hard hitting team sports, sports that push you harder than you thought you could go, to do better, to lose and to deal with it, not make excuses.

Maybe I'm off base here...? · Dec 17 at 5:55am

Not at all off base. People love to make simple as complicated as possible.

Diego Sun Devil: Romney would not have won.  Ronald Reagan would not have won.  Independents were sick of the GOP.

If by some miracle, Romney would have won, the 2010 elections would not have broken the way they did.  However, we'd have one or two "conservative" supreme court justices, which would go along way.  We also wouldn't have had Obamacare or the stimulus.  I think we'd probably be resoundingly out of the recession.  As it is, we may or may not be and we could easily slip back into another deep recession.

I just can't go there when it comes to 'purity'.  Purity doesn't exist in politics and it definitely doesn't exist in governance, which often requires compromises with the other side so that something 'right' gets done.  I know a lot of people hate this, but that's just reality in a world of differing viewpoints. · Dec 16 at 12:32pm

There never has been compromise with the left, only appeasement. That's the reality.

Mark Wilson: It's been said before, but I will keep pointing this out every chance I get.  Energy "efficiency" is not a rational basis for this ridiculous ban.  If you live in a climate where you heat your home, on days where you use any heat at all these bulbs have 100% efficiency.  The heat they produce that the government calls "waste" directly offsets the need to use the furnace.

And better yet, the light bulb produces radiant heat that warms the rooms you are immediately in, because that's where you have the lights on. · Dec 16 at 9:16am

Smart! · Dec 16 at 9:22am

Expanding on that, these new efficient light bulbs are Mercury filled. You have to call in the Hazmat unit if you break one.

Joseph Eagar: Oh come on.  If we had one single viable alternative (the idea that Newt is somehow more conservative than Romney is absurd), people wouldn't be so fatalistic about Romney.  Conservative activists tried to get Mitch Daniels, Chris Christie, and Paul Ryan to run.  None of them felt inclined to do so.  There just isn't anyone left at this point. · Dec 16 at 9:11am

This has nothing to do with Newt. Newt is not my candidate. PERRY is my candidate.  This was an observation piece.

Rick Blaskovich

Then I respectfully ask baked or broiled is best for the bird?

Rick Blaskovich

This is simply a re-post, for the next piece, about the Center of Gravity Poll.

Valiuth: Doesn't Israel have it's own nukes? Unless Iran actually kills all Israelis, they will be nuked back, problem solved...

Also EJ what are we Midwesterners to do with your advice...there are no hills in Chicago. · Dec 15 at 3:38pm

You really think that is a realistic answer? Israel is surrounded by enemies on all sides.  This will set off a world war.

Rick Blaskovich

when do we get to see the results?

Rick Blaskovich

If not Newt, then who?
