There was a period when the operations officers in Moscow had a good run.  Tony Mendez (of Argo fame--played by Ben Affleck) worked with some high talent folks from the US and Russia, and, for a time, they were able to get some incredible intelligence because of some (apparently) unbelievable disguise protocols (most are still classified).  It is clear that Mr. Fogle didn't have access to any of that.

About 13 years ago I hiked in a small area of the Swiss Alps and came across the small town of Murren.  I happened to arrive on the day of their annual dorpsfest, which entailed a cute little parade.  Your pictures remind me of that part of my trip.  I think I may have to visit Leavenworth some day.  It would certainly be cheaper than going back to the Schweiz.

Just like "Superstorm" Sandy, it's "extreme" because it's happening now and it seems worse than it's been the last couple years.  Never mind that this weather is not unprecedented.  http://eo.ucar.edu/webweather/blizzardstory.html

DutchTex

No, no, no...this is "extreme" weather.  Also the result of climate change...

I love TLJ, but Brent is much better looking than he...

Is this the same entity that insists that dust on farms in a pollutant to be regulated?

And it's another thing they can blame on those evil Republicans.

Barack and Michelle don't want plebians tromping through their house anyway.  This is a handy excuse for them.

I love Pancho and Lefty, but prefer Willie's cover.

Dead Flowers, which I loved even before I saw The Big Lebowski...

I was born in Fresno and lived in Kerman until I was 10.  I still have family in the San Joaquin Valley and down in the Inland Empire.  I always loved visiting after we moved away.  I find the state breathtakingly beautiful along the coast, and I even think the Central Valley is beautiful in its own way.  I've driven the length of the 101, and would do that every day if I could.  So, I am looking forward to seeing all the beauty the state has to offer.

 What's the old joke?

"Why is living in California like living in a bowl of cereal?"

"Because if you're not a fruit or a nut, you're a flake..."

Ha!

DocJay: You'll love it in spite of the fruit loops.  Enjoy the adventure! · 2 hours ago

1.  We're getting a really good deal on the moving van!  2.  My husband's anniversary present to me was a wetsuit.  Can't wait!

dash: Hmm, someone moving to California, now there's something you don't hear everyday. Enjoy it. There should be some good biking there, but surfing that far north? Invest in a good wetsuit! · 1 minute ago

KP, we love our Victorys.  My first bike was an HD Sportster, which I loved, but you really can't beat the other American made bike.  And, my 5'4" friend got onto my Kingpin with only a little tiptoeing...

Amy, I am, unfortunately, a little familiar with the market out there.  We will be renting to start.  The equity we have from this home does not approach 10% of the average in San Jose (where we're headed.)  Frankly, since 3000 people a week (net!) leave the state, I simply don't see those prices as sustainable, and can't imagine getting in at this level.

Good job Doc!  You have Ryan at a loss for words!

Ryan M: Wow

I mean ... really · 4 hours ago
