Bio

I'm a freshman in college (English major, oh yeah!), and I realized a few months ago that I'm a conservative. And now I'm at Ricochet.

I go to Bradley University, a private school in Peoria, IL. It's near Eureka College- where a certain Republican president went to school.

My interests include: Reading about politics, watching football (Go Bears!), watching baseball (Go Cubs!), watching basketball (Go Bulls!), and sometimes hockey (Go Hawks!). The only sport I play is fantasy football. I also run a website of my own where I post video games that I make in my free time. Check it out!

I'm sure they mean lowercase "democrat," not the Democratic Party.

This guy really thinks he's a genius, and that's what makes this so funny to watch. It's like those mockumentary movies- the characters all think they're so important, so brilliant, but they're really the butt of the joke.

Thanks for that research- I posted this mostly because I found that woman's use of the word "B.S." kind of funny. I mean it didn't offend me but it goes to show who their audience is- pre-teens!

You owe me a couple of french fries, I was eating when I clicked that link.

Austin Murrey: Weird Al Yankovic's Dare to Be Stupid was my first album.  You could enscapsulate my entire personality in that fact, and you still can. · 59 minutes ago

One of the first albums I remember buying was also a Weird Al album! If it weren't for your post I'd be too embarrassed to admit it.

Glad I'm not the only one on Ricochet who likes hip-hop, by the way.

That's a cool logo. Especially relative to other new teams such as the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Remember - we open our schools to the children, feed them if they are hungry, house them and provide health care if their parents cannot, even if they are here illegally.   So, at 18, we cast them into the third world?  I don't see the logic. · 8 hours ago

Those examples are either local governments or private citizens behaving charitably. We're talking about the federal government here. It's not the same "we". Not all localities, nor citizens, choose to do those things. But when it's federal law it's shoved down all our throats.

As Madison said: "Charity is no part of the legislative duty of the government."

EJ- I'm recycling your joke here, but I wonder why the commissioner didn't say "The Colts select Andrew Luck, QB, of the Hoover Institute."

Ethan Safron

This was awesome! Thanks for posting it.

I thought Richard was a Cubs fan! Why does his card say "A.L." I mean, we've had a horrible start to the season but it's not bad enough to cheer for Obama's team.

Ethan Safron

Well, better late than never. Most actors/comedians/entertainers are just going to double down on Obama or vote for Shirley Chisholm (posthumously).

This is the worst day ever. First I go to Wendy's and they give me lettuce on my double cheeseburger instead of tomato, and while I'm eating my distorted burger I miss this post. Ugh.

But the traditional conception of a liberal arts education has been to prepare individuals for their professional lives by giving them a holistic understanding of the world they inhabit, not developing a narrow, industry-specific skill set.

The thing is in today's world if you're going to cough up that much money to go to college, which is an investment, it really is best to go into an industry-specific skill set. For instance, anything with the word "Studies" after a politically correct term for a special-interest minority group puts you right on the career path towards working for the federal government.

Well I'm no foreign policy wonk, but what's wrong with saying America's interests are above those of the Israelis?

Fake John Galt: Yeah, bad stuff. Guess we can't talk about it to much. Prefer not to get the Derbyshire treatment. · 18 minutes ago

Justice for Derb!

A good friend of mine started randomly telling me today how tired he was of this story. We hadn't talked about it until today. I explained to him that it was the media trying to convince blacks that they are oppressed, which will get them to the voting booths, which will of course have them putting check marks next to the (D). He didn't argue back, which means he either was so disgusted by me he didn't want to talk about it or was in agreement.

The kicker is he's very liberal- calls Fox News "Faux News," believes in a "living, breathing Constitution" and wonders why conservatives can't just let people have "free healthcare".

This is all very confusing and I wish the average black person knew how much he was being played. There are certainly many who do get it and just forget about the Democratic party and move even harder left. I just wish they knew how dumb CNN thinks they are.

Mothership_Greg: Radiohead and Steely Dan.  Also, The Waste Land. · 1 hour ago

I agree with Radiohead, but I love Steely Dan! They're a studio band, so what? Just don't see them live. Ever heard their rendition of "East St. Louis Toodle-oo"?

maureen dirienzo: Any rapper, all rap music. · 2 minutes ago

Aw, come on. It's fun to listen to rap. Most other genres still popular are boring , politically correct, and feminine nowadays.

Think of it as pulp music. It grabs your attention, gets the adrenaline going, and is fast-paced. And it has a lot of black comedy (not as in African-American comedy, as in laughing at death).
