Source? Daniels may endorse Lugar, but "barnstorm the state"? Daniels' recent book was supportive of Mourdock's attempts to combat the Obama takeover of Chrysler by stealing bond holder equity; yet he barely mentioned Lugar.

The King Prawn:  I really think he is saying that it needs to be a single plank platform and that plank must be the coming crisis of spending and debt. It may be the only thing the politically disinterested (those who watch sportscenter in lieu of cable news) can get enthusiastic about.

I think not so much a single plank platform but rather it's the only plank that really matters. By the way, reducing entitlements and shortening the reach of the welfare state will advance the SoCon agenda without expending energy fighting that battle. Sounds pretty smart to me.
