Ô coincidence! Just received a copy of this in the mail yesterday from my dad, who's had a long-standing interest in media bias and is now working on a book of his own. I've been trying to bring him on board Ricochet and I'm hoping the prospect of Gloseclose as guest contributor may finally seal the deal. Look forward to reading the book and discussing it further!
Vance Richards: Obama Cares? The sad thing is he had to have someone write that line for him and then they probably sat around talking about how clever it sounds. · Aug 15 at 6:32pm
It's sadder than that, Vance: it's their uber-lame attempt to re-brand "ObamaCare" as "Obama cares." · Aug 15 at 6:36pm
And even sadder than that? The man can't come close to embodying the poor slogans he swallows. If he's going to take up "Obama cares" in front of a crowd of future voters, he sure as heck better muster up a tone that's confident or has some emotional resonance at least. He doesn't. It looks like, at a momentary loss, he dregs this phrase up out of a remote mental grab bag of slogans. Not only is it odd, saying it like he does, he ends up invoking its opposite, 'Obama doesn't care.' Even without the painful counterpoint ("they don't care"), a deflection of the first rate, Obama shoots himself in the foot, not for his lackluster tone, but for his greater failure to comprehend what it means to "care" as President.
