Maybe it's just me, but I can't help but wonder if Richard Epstein read Atlas Shrugged, maybe he would realize the horrible precedence of giving the UN power to tax the seas.

John Yoo got it wrong. Rand Paul was not filibustering about ever killing an American on American soil. He was clear that sometimes it is necessary. He wanted to know if they would kill even if there was no immediate threat. Quite different. More like Waco where they could have arrested Koresh in town that morning, but instead laid siege.

I drove to the suburbs of Atlanta to see it. It portrays the anti-colonialism that is inherent in black theology, so that is naturally difficult to discuss without being called a racist or conspiracy nut, so it will be hard for this movie to get traction even though it is exactly what we need to be clear about. The New Left has been clear about it since the 1960s.  Other parts of the movie can easily be discussed without offense, so it's a mixed bag in its offerings.

I just love these studies conducted by liberals that always find conservatives stupid.

John Marshall considered alcohol very important for socializing after hours. The White House should reflect moderation, not prudery.

The Stasi Museums (former hdqts) in Berlin and Leipzig sent chills up my spine. My mother lost contact with our E. German relatives in that time, b/c the letters were so heavily censored there was nothing left to read, and letter writing became useless.

I have a cousin who had an abortion in the early 1980s. She was 16 yrs old at the time. We were all shocked to discover later that the abortion had not removed the fetus. She had the child, and later became a born again Christian. Her son died last year. His heart had been damaged in the attempt and his growth had been stunted. It was a miracle he lived so long.

The problem is like with feminists. They are Leftists first. In any normal understanding of a feminist, Palin would be one, but she's not b/c she's not a Leftist. Same with militant gays. They are Leftists first. If you are gay, but not a Leftist, you are not one of them.

My daddy punished me with a dramatic flair sometimes, too, because that's what it took to make me take  notice. It's a painful lesson for the girl, but it will make her think and rue. Especially since she can't get on the computer. ;-)

The media will turn on Mitt ASAP. If he's the candidate, he will get a fine taste of the character onslaught that Newt endured.

Young adults (who still consider themselves children) raised by helicopter parents, never went trick or treating, and never fought or argued to defend themselves are completely unprepared for liberty. That's got to be one reason they prefer socialism over capitalism. They grew up in a world that denied reality, now they are lost.

I'm an undergraduate. I try to never give an inch, but I have to let a lot of stuff pass b/c of time considerations or it's just not worth it. In my papers I always try to convince the libs how wrong they are, but sometimes in class discussions they shock me and leave me dumbfounded. Like the time my teacher said there was no such thing as a protestant work ethic, to which I said that the Pilgrims chose a hard path, to which she said, "No, they stole land from the Indians." It's hard to argue with such willful ignorance. 

There is no joy in life like watching YouTube of Thatcher in action. It doesn't look like Streep can fake that. But I wouldn't really know.

Most every OWS person has been coached at a university. That's exactly what our educational system teaches, at least that's what I see at Georgia State University.

Back in the late 1980s Michael performed in West Berlin near the wall. There were other concerts there, too. It annoyed the E German Stasi no end b/c the E Germans wanted to hear it. Anyone who went to W Berlin to perform had to have understood the situation. Don't know if MJ knew that the Stasi was actually spying on him at the time, but he had to have known that he was performing for East Germans as well.

He probably thought Obama could sit down for a chit chat with Ahmadinejad and the US would become allies with Iran. Or that we merely needed a reset button to have a good relationship with Russia. But notice that he did not stand there and turn the other cheek to the thugs. He tried to get away.
