I think everything needs to be put into prospective. When have we ever had a secure border ? Who was in charge of expelling the transgressors ?

What is the time change from bracero to dream program ?

What is the political agenda ?

Why are border states blindly neglecting the impact and trying to upstream the responsibility ? Do they think they can offset the costs ?

And of course, why is California insane ? And what kind of acid just never stops ?

Have we "seen " it ?

Yes, and we enjoyed it mightily.

Especially the last quote.

Will it get any traction ? Nope.

Unless you send it to as many of your African American friends as possible. Get ready for the "Uncle Tom" cursing.

You will love this article.  They suggest making him the head of the RNC . Darned good idea.

We need to work on the language of change. A word for the planned execution of various chambers of commerce that waste money trying to reverse the inexorable economic progress that dooms towns is needed.

In Missouri, the river in my area has a better way. My area is dotted with towns that showed once great promise : Weston, Oregon, Forest City, New Boston, all within a 100 miles, once sat on the banks of the economy's main vein of commerce, the river. Then the river flooded, cut a few meanders out and moved as much as two miles away from the town.

That is a wonderful natural metaphor for what happens in the paper world. Like an interstate highway passing by the town, leaving one exit 2 miles away.

Sometimes I think Ricochet was setup as a peanut gallery to watch the GOP melt.

Hopefully it's collective nature has a solution to rebuilding a conservative movement without the odious components of wackodom.

Like the tea party where I live. It is run by a motley collection of old Ross Perot types and cranky civic-sociopaths. This repels the rest of us.

But you have moved from NoCal to Oregon. Evidently, the introspection caused by the cooler climes is driving you into an existential crisis .

Take heart, Oregon as a whole is much worse than California, but has more money. You can be effective if you use your experience to proselytize the locals. Beware Californians are losing. Tell them there is shale oil below. That'll freak 'em out.

Can't say enough good about the quality of City Journal. You are a lucky guy to be smart enough to be cruising in that highflying aerie of eagles .

California is going to have it's reckoning day and will revel in it's pain.

Detroit with a beach. The people they graduate out of the state and Calpers like Angelides are the leaders of a very dangerous clerisy. Podesta, Burkett, and the rest are great examples of the new corruption that endangers us all. And I didn't even go to Silicon Valley ( cause I don't want my pc to break unexpectedly).

Lots of media conflation about this. After reading this by Christian Adams, I am tempted to think that Scalia was crafty and Thomas was true. And they were both doing the right thing .

Isn't it all moot in the face of the lumbering monster that Schumer and Rubio are trying to wedge into the room ?

So Putin is the new  Mike Ovitz ?

Seagal is pretty good at collateralizing his relationships.

Someone needs to do a freedom chart of the world's countries.

Having done that informally for the last 20 years, considering the possible move away from my homeland reluctantly. At least I have a high standard to qualify the countries, and New Zealand and Costa Rica looked the most inviting. The countries have gotten less attractive in the last 20 years, at about the same pace as the USA , so the exercise approaches pointlessness.

Now the tipping point is approaching with countries that tried socialism and are turning back to free market looking better. Trouble is, their immigration qualification threshold has become exponentially higher, as it should.

My natural migration from Fox to Fox Business has helped. Lou Dobbs and Neil Cavuto much less strident, screeching. Shep is unbearable, O'Reilly too bombastic . Neil and Lou are well enough connected that their guests are routinely intelligent on the subject at hand.

I have left the MSM behind so long ago, can't imagine finding anything there of worth. And then there is the Internet, reading Lucianne, Powerline on a regular basis provides tons o'truth.  Narrowing it down more and more.

I can't make a judgement of whether Murdoch believes that the immigration bill is a good idea. On the surface, it looks like a disaster. Did Fox help win the last election or not ? I am so tired of the press trying to influence things. I want the news damnit.

I think this whole thing is a media construct and Lord knows we can't trust them. They are trying to lure him into a McCain like trap.

The proof the GOP's evolution is self-evident in his election . He doesn't have to take it any  further. The American people are not for open borders, welfare for illegals, and broad amnesty. The press practices Goebbels rule of the Big Lie, tell it over and over until it becomes the perceived truth.

bollocks .

This guy needs to get out more, in his district.

What did Sarah Palin say the other day ? Let Allah sort 'em out. ...humm...maybe the best course. Now if we can staple John Kerry's wallet (full of our money) shut and to his own bottom, maybe things would play out a bit quicker.

The garbage pickers in Cairo are a culture unto themselves. There is an incredible story there for anyone who cares to do a little research.

Egypt has a caste system as bad as India.  The garbage people of Cairo are  treated the same as the 'untouchables' of India.

Having gone to Egypt a couple of years ago for a month or so, to see this evokes real sadness. The Egyptian people were all fantastic, warm and genuinely friendly.

Thanks Obama and Huma.

Sarbanes Oxley ? The little microwave trick he slipped through the other day, carbon impact. Everyone sorts of skips over that one. How about considering the fact that carbon and global warming is losing it's credibility faster than Obama is losing his.... Maybe it's a pontoon scheme, blowing air into one as the other deflates.

Better yet, let's base the cost of the prevailing value of carbon credits in the EU trading platform .

Hopefully, we will use the same format that Bill Clinton, Bernard Schwartz and Loral Systems agreed on years ago. It's in place, we have paid for it enough times, and Hillary knows the password .  ( ask Bill Gertz)

SO now they are worried that the barred owls will breed the spotted owls out of existence . The government is thinking about shooting the barred owls, thwarting a natural progression that may solve the economic problems . Look around for the stories, this is irony in the trees.

California towns (unless they are on the coast) aren't that different. Check out VDH on the central towns, and then consider Modesto, San Bernandino and some others teetering ,or in CH 9.

I live in a midwestern town of 75000, alot more empty storefronts these days. National chains still coming in, but usually as a TIF giveaway from the city or county as an incentive. Imagine the accumulated tax incentive bill that has been piled up with TIFs !
