Bio

Occupation: Thirty years in television production. (Read "Totally Unemployable")

Family: Wife and four children. Which puts me seventh in the pecking order. The dog knows I am eyeing his spot and he doesn't like it.

Childhood dreams: Play second base in the majors. Sing like Bing Crosby. Dance like Fred Astaire.

Adult realities: Play second fiddle to the dog. Sing worse than Astaire and dance worse than Crosby.

Major accomplishments: Four good kids, a local Emmy and getting up in the morning.

The problem: Nutjobs with guns. Only solution: Your mental health records online in the hands of the FBI and ATF. Any more questions?

From someone for which this IS a local crime story: Stay out of my backyard until you've cleaned up after the dogs you're supposed to be watching.

I will probably get shot for this (Get in line!) but I see no ads except on the odd occasion that I check in on my wife's iPad.

I browse on Firefox and use their AdBlocker Plus plugin. It cuts down on the load time of every page and declutters my reading experience.

But... are we all... too late?

JimGoneWild: Is that Peter Robinson's body double?
Robbo

No. Peter "Robbo" Robinson needs no body double.

Picture taken at the last Robinson Family Vacation in the California mountains.

But think of the possibilities!

QuickerBrownFox:   Will there be a Ricochetwoman to balance out the (uncalled-for!) misogyny?

Should we play it straight... or provactive? (And is "straight" a hate word?)

Think about it. Couldn't we put the Con-servative into ComicCon? (By the way, have any of you made reservations at either the RayCon or the LindaCon?)

3rd angle projection: I guess my problem is mainly with local news. Can they ever break free from the police blotter model? Is this an SF problem only?

Local news is awful everywhere. Television news is a bad setup from the get-go.

First, nothing is really covered in depth. Anything over a 1:30 is thought to be too long.

Second, the most important stories are usually the ones without any compelling visuals. The city budget vs police chase and a helicopter?  No contest.

Lastly, while anchors can stay at the desk for a long, long time most street reporters, at least the good ones, are just putting together a resume reel. They can't find their way around the town they're working in without a GPS and then they're gone at the end of their contract, off to a cable net or a bigger market.

Croix du Sud very carefully laid out the polygamy definitions for polyandry and polygyny. But that falls woefully short for today's culture.

Now that homosexual marriage is gaining acceptance even polygamy won't mean what it used to, because a bisexual can now marry multiples of each sex. Adam can marry Bob and Catherine. Then Catherine can marry Bob. Then Bob can marry Dolores. Then Dolores can marry Ethel. And if Ethel likes Catherine she can marry her. But if she's strictly a lesbian and Bob gets drunk and hits on her then it's rape.

Excuse me, SSMers, but your slippery slope is showing. (Oh, I keep forgetting that doesn't exist...)

Nathaniel Wright: Our new goal at Ricochet is to create a new Errol Flynn movie.
