What a great podcast. Like.

Skarv

She will probably appeal an election loss on the basis that the voters "hurt her feelings".

This was really good. Content and delivery. He get my Like

I found Rob Long's point on the mandate very important and refreshing. If a candidate does not commit to driving for a change, why should I bother voting for him? ParisParamus says that we have a short leash making that obsolete. Maybe. As a feedback loop. But how can you ever get permission for a major change if you never ask for it?

Romney is not my ideal candidate (I was not hot for the others either) and we are going to war for the Romney we have. Please Romney be bold!

"If it's no good, you're going to have to lie to your friend and tell him it is."
Why? Your friend is better off if you offer honesty.

disgusting. As I read Swedish I tried to look up the comment in Swedish media. It is a mess of resignation demands, apologies and pc talk.My suspicion is that the minister (who is right wing with Swedish standards) made a very stupid mistake when trying to fit in with progessive artists. Why she felt the need to do that beats me. Most Swedes would agree with comments expressed here on Ricochet

Wouldn't the reasonable response for  NRO  be to point out where Derb is wrong?

Why would Ricochet panic and request emergency measures to reach the editors? I never saw "Scott's post" but Derb's is still available (pointed to from NRO). I doubt many of the points he is making but it is not dangerous to read it.

A variant of the horror of state funded healthcare is in Sweden where you are not denied help but you are placed in the queue. The management of the queue is completely opaque and and  in reality authorities moves old patients towards the end and by that manages the queue in two ways - some people get treatment and some die (which is cheaper). In either case the queue is managed to their administrative objectives.

I apologize for the tone. I shouldn't have written like that. Let me try to be more constructive. I love a good podcast and like to know about where I can find more (with the exception of the 2 mentioned, I find Ricochet to be the premier source). Other good ones I know of are Coffee and markets, Uncommon knowledge (particularly in the long continuous format from Hoover rather then the segmented NRO version) and Heritage foundation lectures. What else can Ricochet readers/listeners recommend?

Some technical comments: I really appreciate the download feature as I often listen offline. Direct link is my preference as I do not want to manage players with subscriptions who tend to start downloads when I need the CPU to do something else. An enhancement I would like to see is that the recording volume was higher.

Dave for President!

It is a pity that not all of them, first and foremost President Obama but also all of the Republican contenders can't lose. If this was a sports game, no one would watch.

Skarv

What is the problem with allowing most Republicans in all states influence the decision? Why is it OK to let a few small early states determine who is the nominee? Seems important to me to hear out the whole country of Republicans who they want as their representative.

And from tactical standpoint: I think it is an advantage to keep President Obama in the dark about who his challenger is going to be as long as possible.

Pray for brokered convention and Private Ryan

Not scary for the leadership at all. I do not think the Republican establishment is afraid that the Tea Party movement will die. It will be back to business as usual for the political class of both parties. Most of them are more comfortable winning elections as democrat lights and since the competition is not that great it will happen often enough to guarantee life-time appointments for many of them. The consequences for the country are going to be dire but do they care. Some maybe..
