We used an accountant this year because of of some multi-state issues, but I am usually plugging away at the TurboTax on the morning of the 15th.

We've been homeschooling for 17 years, since my oldest was nine. My three oldest had no trouble getting into college, in fact #1 went on a full-tuition academic scholarship, #2 has earned the same for his junior and senior years and was heavily recruited by the Army ROTC program before he even started college, and #3 has a partial-tuition vocal music scholarship. The kids have had jobs at the public library, JCPenney, and Jimmy John's all with only their homeschool diplomas/transcripts. #4 is still homeschooled. Someone worried about gaps in homeschoolers' learning. Of course they have gaps! We all do. I graduated 10th in a class of 400+ and knew nothing about art or world history.  We teach them to learn and they can fill those gaps. (And compared to my kids, my husband and I had gaps you could drive a truck through.) One more thing: For years I have heard parents lament that they are not organized or patient enough to homeschool. Neither of those are words that anyone who knows me would use to describe me. Any parent who truly wants to homeschool can do it.

Joy- As someone who lives just a couple of neighborhoods away this is what we experienced: Our cars were safe 'til we drove them up to IPFW. Twice the open-minded campus types tore NRA stickers off of our vehicles. Another family that lives midway between the two of us has Republican stickers all over their car and has never had any trouble. You might be okay. But living in my neighborhood, I'm not going to chance it. I will probably get a Pence yard sign. The down-ticket races don't seem to draw the ire of the Obama-ites like a Romney sign would.
