After a fairly severe motorcycle accident in September 2009, I decided that if I didn't change how I drove I'd be dead shortly. As I have a 46 mile each way drive to work, I have modified my behavior as follows:

2-lane roads - Speed limit +5

multi-lane surface streets - speed limit

Divided highways/interstates - 60 in a 60, 65 in a 70& up.

I stay in the right lanes and keep the hell out of everyone's way.

It is shocking how all the idiots I used to complain about disappear in front of me now. Much less stressful on a daily basis.

On long trips, I'll run limit +8.

As an engineer who is having great difficulty finding good young people to replace the current crop of retirees, if anyone wants their children to have stable jobs that pay very well, they should allow them to take up a trade like welding or pipefitting. If higher ed is insisted upon, engineering or another technical-type majors are in high demand today.

When would it be appropriate to point out that this incident is a mere blip driven by a media circus in search of better ad rates?   In the grand scheme of all death in the United States, the media kows it can sell this event. The media thinks this is better for revenue generation than sex. THAT is beyond inappropriate, sir.
