Mollie Hemingway, Ed.

That's where I am, too. Of course, one way you can tell I'm a libertarian is that I'm far less interested in talking about the government's role in all of this than I am in people living virtuously without government coercion. · 14 minutes ago

That's fine in the abstract, but it does nothing to protect the rights of the unborn individual whose mother chooses not to live virtuously.

I agree though, legal enforcement of a pro-life position posses its own challenges.

Abortion is an interesting issue in that you can apply the libertarian ethos and come to a wide range of conclusions.

Looking forward to this.

IMO if you are a libertarian and value individual rights, there can be no rights without the right to our own existence.

And biology works against you if you are trying to argue that an unborn child is not an individual human existence.

FWIW I am not religious and am strongly pro-life. It's a matter or individual rights coming into conflict and which takes priority.

Lots of us like Palin, myself included.

But she doesn't seem interested in addressing the reasons most people don't like her.

I actually think the Senate would be a perfect fit for her rabble rousing sensibilities, in the same way Rand Paul and Ted Cruz have been effective ruffling feathers.

Her strength is challenging corruption and the ruling class, and the Senate is full of those stuffy types to take on.

I love everything about Palin, her libertarian bent, her stand against cronyism and the ruling class, her championing of life.

But she doesn't make the arguments well enough in interviews. Others can get away with this, but with the MSM dead set against her, she can't, she has to be great.

She should have taken a lesson from Lady Thatcher and focused on her speech and delivery. Conservative women are held to a different standard and Thatcher new it, she had to go above and beyond to be taken seriously.

Obama voters are unpersuadable by the sort of limited government arguments we want to make. You have be very specific in tying it to their wallets/privacy/quality of life or they will fail to make the connection.

I thought Kevin Williamson's example with Gordon Gecko and the i-phone was a good example of how to effectively advance the agenda.

He won't go full Bulworth until the results of the midterms are in.

If GOP at minimum keeps the House, Obama will either go full Bulworth or just lazily give up and spend all his time golfing and partying with Jay-Z.

Finding a reason to resign is also a possibility. The guy loves the trappings and title, but hates doing work.

This is always an interesting ethical dilemma. When someone is being disruptive but not violent, how do you stop it without using violence against them?

In order to stop the woman from disrupting everyone else in the theater, the phone would have to be taken from her by force, or she would have to be removed by force. Most people don't enjoy doing that sort of thing to another person.

The left exploits this dynamic constantly, especially on college campuses. They block your way or shout you down or stage sit ins, and they can claim they are nonviolent. The only way to stop the disruption is to use violence against them. After which they can claim they are being oppressed (see Stanley Kurtz's recent reporting on the campus takeover by radicals at Swarthmore).

could you ask Gov. Perry if there are any plans to implement school vouchers in Texas?

I'm assuming this will not affect Obama's approval numbers in the slightest until I see evidence otherwise.

For the Low Information Voter, only short term pain and gain matter. Which is why Obamacare could cause the bottom to finally drop out once it starts to be fully implemented.

Butters

why is the AP story a scandal?

They were investigating the leak of classified information and issued supeoneas for the phone records of the place where the story was published.

I never understood why journalists think they are entitled to withhold criminal evidence.
