We had two sets: EB for us and WB for the two girls. The older one would read WBs cover to cover, and some EB. She's an Intel Analyst. The younger one only used what she had to for school -- when forced. She's a Marine spouse with our three grand kids (and trying to finish up her BA degree). We're very proud of each daughter! They worked for us, but when we left Virginia for Texas in June 2001, they were left behind (given to a family with three younger daughters). Living in the Heartland now, we're glad we don't have them. But about those other 600 books we do have . . .
Hmmmmm. Wish I could go. But will there be snow? We're going to get it tomorrow (Thursday) here in Nebraska. Hope that won't put a damper on the event.
Another option: a small public school that offers a large, eclectic core and both liberal arts and engineering degrees. Also, it's a trade school. I'm suggesting, for those so motivated, the service academies. I wanted to fly. They taught me! I wanted to know how to get from points A-Z to Z-A, so I took Navigation courses and majored in Geography (so that, later on, the Navigator couldn't tell me where to go). Two years of Calculus, a year of Physics, Anthropology, Philosophy, 4 year-long engineering courses, etc. My honors Chemistry course (my rookie season at the Blue Zoo) was taught by the head of the department. And I had a nice job ready after graduation. OBVIOUSLY not the choice far all. But do consider it. And lots of contacts throughout my career started there.
Thanks for another interesting and enjoyable post. I don't suppose you ever RON (remain overnight) in the Omaha metro, DC (including Council Bluffs, IA)? Most every night I could get over there. I'd sure like to buy you a beer or three and chat.
I live in Nebraska and have no doubt how we'll vote. The Lame Stream Media with their enablers in the polling world will not suppress the vote here. You know that's their goal because every Donk up and down the line is screaming about suppression (in PA and elsewhere) -- because its what they're up to. It's not even transference or projection, it just is!
Jojo: ....The worst ten percent of building contractors is more skilled, more honest, and has done more for their fellow man than the top ten percent of lawyers. · 3 hours ago
I've found that the worst ten percent of contractors are the worst ten percent for the same reason that the worst ten percent of any profession are the worst ten percent: They're poor and/or dishonest workers. · 15 minutes ago
I think next season Survivor might want to sent the worst 10% of contractors onto an island with the worst 10% of lawyers. That's a show that would get ratings! · 1 hour ago
I REALLY like The Wind and the Lion, but the folks who put in the subtitles on my DVD were cretins. Just put it on and read the way they interpret military commands. Hilarious!
