The Everly Brothers were great songwriters and mediocre performers. Consequently, anybody who covers an Everly Brothers song beats the Everly Brothers. Two easy ones:

"Wake Up, Little Susie" by Simon & Garfunkel
"When Will I Be Loved" by Linda Ronstadt

A question for Rick Wilson and others who say we must change the GOP position on gay marriage for electoral reasons: 1) Do the polls which show strong majorities of young voters indicate that the only thing keeping them from voting Republican is its position on SSM? If not, your solution isn't really addressing the problem. 2) For the GOP, will SSM become like abortion for the Democrats, where formerly pro-life politicians had to evolve if they wanted any support from the national party? Will those who don't support SSM still be allowed in the party? And finally, and most importantly 3) If the GOP follows your recommendation, do you really think the left will say "OK, now that the GOP had folded on this issue, we'll have to stop talking about it"? If you think they will stop demagoguing the issue, please explain why contraception, which hasn't been an actual issue in over a generation, became an issue in the last election.

Joker: "...And if we don't our children will be much worse off than we were."

Actually, you won't have to wait for your children to be worse off. YOU will be worse off, and soon.....

"It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices"

Actually, when Congress passes an unconstitutional law, that is exactly the courts job.

mesquito: "I suppose it's the idea that the Government Party wishes to accrue even more power to itself it must now, explicitly in the the legislation it advances, use the word "tax."

I'm afraid you have it exactly backwards. Obamacare explicitly claimed not to be a tax. In the future, Congress is free to leave out the word "tax", knowing that John Roberts will be happy to add it in for them later.

Rob - I have the same problem with avocado. I tell people I don't like avocado and probably 2/3 of the time they respond with "What about guacamole?" When I tell them I care for it, they insist that THEIR recipe for guacamole is awesome and I have to try it. It turns out that THEIR recipe is still mostly avocado.

I sometimes think I would have to eat less guacomole if I didn't tell people I don't like it.

I once knew a guy who didn't care for onions. He got so tired of pushy people forcing their recipes on him he started telling people he was seriously allergic to onions and he could die if he ate any.

Has it really come to this? Do we have to lie to well-meaning idiots who assume we're narrow-minded because we have a food preference?

Forget the Swedes, forget the Hipster Hordes from Portland. The real threat is obviously the Canadians. The authorities there are the "Mounties" for pete's sake. Although as rampaging hordes go, I bet they'd be the politest one in history.

Rob, have you ever been to Dallas in the summertime? You save a fortune on air conditioning my not opening your door to the outside. Hulu/Netflix saves Texans money. Here in Santa Barbara, we don't watch as much Hulu/Netflix because, well, you've been here, you know....

My Mom makes the Velveeta/Rotel dip all the time. It's great as is, or with whatever extras you care to add. However, Tim, you are wrong about Fritos's Scoops. Whatever they did to Fritos to make them bend that way makes them taste awful. Although they are getting harder to find, get some of the King Size Fritos and do a side by side taste test.Scoops have ruined more than a few snack chip brands.....

Molly, in the spirit of your article, I hereby give you an F in Web Editing 101 for linking to a Jonah Goldberg Corner post instead of the New York Post ;-)

So, they overfilled the oil, used a partially frozen bird to get the most reaction, didn't turn off the flame when loading it in.

How is it that they certify anything? "We stripped the plastic off the power cord of this microwave oven, and dipped it into this bathtub filled with water."

ZZAAPP!

"We did this with no people in the tub. Can you imagine what would happen if you had your baby in here? Judging by our complete incompetence in using this product, we won't be certifying it with our trusted UL mark."

Bryan G. Stephens: ... Passive Resistance is a form of physical force. It can only be countered by physical force....

Not true, you just need to get creative about the response. The cops should have used that all-purpose liberal answer to any violence whatsoever: hugs. Specifically, they should have gotten some of the tubucular, naked under the raincoat, Zucotti-lung types to come and give big wet sloppy hugs to each protester in turn. Would've cleared out the crowd in nothing flat.

And here I thought the Pernicious Hemispherism was the left-brain analytical vs. right brain creative battle.

I'm pretty sure there was a Far Side cartoon about that somewhere.....

Here's a shorter version of Capehart's argument: Perry is a Republican. Therefore, Perry is a racist. Can you spot the liberal's unstated assumption hiding in there?

I think you give Capehart too much credit, by assuming he is duped, rather than malicious. He not only assumes that by “privilege” Perry means “affirmative action”, but that all conservatives mean the same thing, hence the "dog whistle" comment, which is the new liberal justification for not needing any actual evidence of racism before accusing people of it.

It is mendacious, and Capehart should be called on it, in ways that would definitely violate the Ricochet Rules of Conduct.

Other than the Evita like final bit, I like the international one. I think that scene shows her swatting away the political handlers in just the right way.

Surely if they are paying dues, they count as members of the SEIU, right? 45,000 voting members might be enough to get a decent decertification vote going. Or maybe run a separate leadership candidate in the next vote? Cause them enough trouble/bad PR, and the SEIU might let them go...
