I blog about science fiction, choral music, and the (occasional) intersection between the two at fredosphere.com. Go there for samples of my music, or buy my songs (including "They're Made Out of Meat" and "Earth Girl") by searching iTunes, Amazon.com, et al. for the keyword "fredosphere" (funny how that works), or by following this link.
I enjoy hearing from Ricochet members anytime; contact me via fred...at...fredosphere...döt...com.

Re: Diversity, Have Mercy
La Tapada: Wait a minute. I understand that Paul called on God (Jesus Christ) to make the spirit leave the girl. Paul didn't have the power to do this himself. If you believe that the exorcism was mean-spirited and bigoted, wouldn't that mean it's God who is being mean-spirited and bigoted?

That's the part I noticed. There's no examination of how St. Paul got his power to drive the spirit (or Spirit) from her. It's a classic example of the pitfall lazy thinkers fall into when demonizing (no pun intended) people they dislike: they want to make they look evil, so they end up implicitly flattering them by exaggerating their power. Like the way everything bad used to be Bush's fault; the man was practically omnipotent in the eyes of the left.
