Michael Hinton: How is Mourdock doing 21 points worse than Romney? When will the insurgent wing of the party learn to stop leaving locked up conservative votes up to chance? · 0 minutes ago

Tragically self inflicted. Why can't social conservatives have the Rape question locked up so airtight  it can't be misquoted, reedited manipulated etc etc .  Its  the only question pro-life people GET! According to  Reporters, no one has an abortion for any other reason.

<sigh>   Seems such an honorable man, an honorable and thoughtful answer, such naivete.

Please - its already started - Why wait till he loses when you can do your best to white-guilt his win? (think it will work??)

I live in Houston - this is a big deal. wow.

I vote Media. Media Media.

I am not interested  in floor-types - but when my house flooded I needed to get interested and I had thousands of sources of info / some biased but obviously so(tile guy will plug tile, not wood), some not. I was uninformed, became informed and am a educated owner of some nice slate.

When Joe Regular gets ready to vote, he will never had heard of Fast and Furious or Bengazi because  he didn't know he had to think about it.

The best thing about the last debate was Romney screwing up Bengazi so people actually went to check it out. If they had been casual news followers they probably thought Romney himself  killed Ambassador Stevens till that point, so feckless and immoral was the coverage.

the media has failed in the last 6 years to hold itself to any kind of standards. Crowley and Raddutz being the latest examples of the huge harm they can do. We can't go back in time and let Ryan finish his sentence, or let Romney get the last word. After the debates was too late to complain about bias.

Abortion? Gross! - its Reprductive Justice.

You are So right. And the right is bad at it. Steve Hayes - right after Bengazi claimed it was "The Collapse of the Obama Doctrine". at the time I was thinking if we had the lefts' skill  we would have had every pundit on every show use that phrase.  It would slowly burn into the national conciousness and we would be set. But somehow everyone needed to use their own phrase - failure of policy, etc... And no one remembers that.

ljt

But wasn't all the millions spent prior to the debates effectively misspent? In fact  they may have even worked against him in that they painted such a caricature of Romney that his real personality did even better in contrast? + they provide a vaccine against future ads?

Ps seeing Obama ads in Texas during sporting events. (maybe elsewhere but I don't watch anything live so I fastforward through most ads - except the one where the guy sings "Fly by night" in his car. Not seen a Romney one though.

PS does this have a counter effect? Do -  say -  college student who think Obama has it in the bag - do they bother to go out and vote? Especially when  when it's no longer a fashion statement?

I joined the Team Demoralized 2 weeks ago- the polls and that Egyptian being led away by the police with the rest of the country not (seemingly ) caring.  Then I spent some time analyzing my gut.  I realized that I still planned to crawl through broken glass (as some ricocheter once put it) to get to the polls. However  - my desire to contribute financially had dropped.

So I snapped out of it and sent Romney and  the RNSC a check. And relaxed. What has changed since the DNC?

Obama has proved he is as worthless in foreign policy as he is in domestic.

Thats it. Right?

No Caesar

ljt: Is it really all the fault of the compliant Media?

They haven't helped and they've certainly been enablers.  But at heart it is Obama's fault at this point in history.  All (rhetorical) guns need to be trained on him.  · 37 minutes ago

Would he dare if he knew that the 24 hour news media would do nothing but hanangue him till everyone in the country saw a man lead away in chains for a YouTube video?

ljt

I never thought I would see this in America. Instead of PROTECTING this man and his free speech they drag him away like a criminal for doing NOTHING WRONG. This is horrific. I have been so depressed all weekend.  How could things get So bad. Is it really all the fault of the compliant Media?

COMMUNICATE COMMUNICATE COMMUNICATE

Explain WHY  & how the policies are implemented. How they are working.  Bypass the filter of the MMS and address the people often and succinctly. If you reduce taxes and revenues go up - EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW!!

and all the stuff everyone else said.

Peter Fumo: I don't think there was one speech that had any truly memorable lines.

I thought Martinez had the MOST memorable line -

"I'll be damned, we're Republicans"

ljt

re Speakers - I agree with Lucy.

These were brilliant , dynamic speakers placed  in powerful positions  by the rank and file (racist sexist republicans)  often despite seemingly insurmountable odds. (Cruz, Rubio, Haley). Plus there were PLENTY of white males.(TPaw,Mcdonnell, Portman etc etc).  There was a lot of focus on the future of the party.

What they weren't - random women  whose only achievement is demanding for free birthcontrol.(If every conservative woman who had been called a bad name got a speaking spot , our convention would have lasted years.)

However - I do agree that the first half of Ann Romney's speech about how women were the backbone etc and Romney talking about his Lt Gov came off as pandering. And kind of insulting to the Lt gov - like she was picked for her gender not her talent. We don't do that, do we? They do.

ljt

So : Mom Jeans vs Dirty Harry?

Yes in 2008 - the spontaneous  sing alongs and creepy halo pictures and You tube homages  with Jason Bateman & Keidis were not exactly the height of toughness .

But now? Now ,  surrogates out there whining about how Obama is being "bullied" out of the WhiteHouse.

Wait  - is  this some kind of  trick question?

ljt

It was very  fun but felt kinda slick to me. All those rhymes and things. He was a minister, a governor, a very smart guy - this is what he does. I expected no less.

But I have Charismatic Evangelical  friends who know many people  who planned on staying home over voting for a Mormon. (at least, a few months ago)   I am sure those people were listening. I am sure they heard what he was saying. "It's OK, you're allowed to do this, its the right thing".
