I disagree.

Before the Beatles nobody sounded like the Beatles.  Since the Beatles everybody sounds like the Beatles.

I think that sound has become so familiar to us that we forget the creation of it was genius. · 8 minutes ago

The Beatles had some good songs, lots of bad ones, and made stuff famous.  Kind of like World of Warcraft didn't exactly do anything new-- it "just" got all the good stuff others had done, put it in one place, and did it well.

I've heard it said that creativity is taking two existing ideas and bringing them together to form a new idea.

The Beatles brought together several existing musical styles and formed a new sound.  That sound has been the sound in popular music ever since.

They were an OK pop band, but not the endall beall of rock.  They came along as the baby boomers were just starting to rebel and were lucky enough or smart enough to play into that emotion.   · in 2 minutes

Definitely Piano Man

QuickerBrownFox: Van the Man has a ridiculous amount of solid material, yet that's the only song you ever hear them play on the radio.

A good companion question might be:

What songs or artists are undeservingly underplayed?

I love voicemail because it allows me to ignore everybody I know without appearing rude.

You know you're in a socialist country when you hear the campaign slogan "Litter in every pot!"

Everyone reading the value menu at McDonald's.

"Let's see... it's about 1:30 so that leaves me with what...like 3 1/2 years.."

The Iced Americano looks good.

They aren't going back. There's nothing to go back to. Obama always won these people over with promises. But this is it for him now. No more time for promises. It's go time. But he's got nothing. No heart, no ideas, nothing. If they really believe what they say they believe in they have to dump his dead weight now.

Casey

I think this is big.  For 6 years the President was unmakefunaboutable (it's a word!).  He's become a joke.

Obama's done.  He's over.  He's Willie Mays with the Mets.

And everybody knows it but him.

Enjoy.

very interesting.  thanks for sharing.

Susan in Seattle: Hi Casey, I thought this might be of some interest.  I was at a medical appointment today and the doc came to me and said, "Susan in Seattle!  Come on down!"  I just let out a little whoop because I was thinking of this thread -  which I then told him about.  The conversation that ensued was quite fun as we reminisced about goofy game shows.  · 8 hours ago

Nice!  The Ricochet effect in action.

Saving the country one goofy game show at a time.

Casey

If Ricochet was a carnival game we'd all be holding giant bananas.
