Media management in Chicago where Obama learned his craft is: Giggle, shrug, ignore the question, speak a few sentences of gibberish. Glower at any follow-up.
The media, with a few very notable exceptions, valued their access (and kneecaps) sufficiently to let it go at that.
That's all changed now that Obama is in the big league, with real opponents who have real recourse (if they have the fortitude to wield it).
Plus, the media facade is beginning to crack ever so slightly as they begin to look ahead to life after Obama.
