Time to play by their rules.  Maybe an enterprising congresscritter can propose a bill that would form a committee to study what is it about Muslim and liberal ideology causes its adherents to become violent.  Yea, I know big waste of money and would never get passed, but it might be fun to see how the media reports it -- but they'd probably just gosnell it.

We also need to remember that "The Left" wants the country talking about SSM, Gun Control, Amnesty, or any other "look - squirrel" to keep the country from talking about the economy.

One is a shiny object adored by international elitists.  The other is a soccer ball.

How many of those states have Republican Governors and/or Legislatures?

Just created a new petition to the Whitehouse (after signing the "Let Louisiana Go" petition):

Recognize Elizabeth Warren as the first Native American woman elected to US Senator

If 150 or more people sign it, then it will show up on the listed items.

Double down on the Democrat propositions -- make them own them.  They want 40% taxes on "the rich".  Introduce a bill in the House for an 80% tax rate, 90% over $1 million.  If 40% is good, then 80% is twice as good, right?  The Dems then have two options: 1) Say "great idea" and go along.  Of course we know how this will work out -- anybody in the high brackets will re-configure their income so as to not pay the high rates.  Or 2) They will have to argue that 80% is too high a rate and that it is either "not fair" or "too high".  Which brings into discussion what the optimum rate on the Laffer curve actually is.

Do the same thing for other Dem propositions.  They want 50 mpg CAFE standard -- propose 75 mpg.  Make them put up the arguments about the technical and scientific feasibility.

outstripp: The problem with progressive "ism" is that it has a benign sounding name. A naive bystander will tend to think it's a good thIng. We need a short catchy word or phrase to stigmatize it. Any suggestions? · 2 minutes ago

Or, if you have to go, at least wear a Guy Fawkes mask.

I think that we forget that government functions should be effective rather than efficient.  For example, no one will claim that our military is efficient, but it certainly can be effective.

Rural Electrification, long before my time, I'm sure was not efficient, but that was not the goal.

This is one of the best arguments for limited government, when you try to be effective AND efficient, you will likely fail.  Government should be limited to those things it MUST do and then do those things well.   I'm not saying that some areas of government cannot improve their efficiency, but that should not be done if it greatly compromises effectiveness.

Leave the efficiency up to the States and the People.

So what term should we use instead of "Intellectual"?  At first I thought of Empiricist, with empiricism meaning "the doctrine that allknowledge of matters of fact derives from experience and that the mind is not furnished with a set of concepts in advance of experience" (from dictionary.reference.com).  But, unfortunately, I think too many people might confuse this with Imperialist.  So how about realist or rationalist?

I watched Hannity last night to see what this was about and also found it a bit lacking.  But what I did find interesting is that Ben Shapiro repeated the phrase "Jeremiah Wright of Academia" (or something similar) a few times.  I'm wondering if they have other links of Obama to the "Jeremiah Wright of Media"...

I've seen the add too -- and it really piqued my curiosity since at the beginning it gives the location as Destrehan, LA, which is where I live.  It also shows the GPS coordinates 30, -90.375.  Those coords in  Google maps are just outside of Destrehan, and about a mile from my house!  And I rarely have to fight alligators to get out of my neighborhood.

The actual location is on the site of an old Shell Western E&P, Inc. Gas Processing plant, long since abandoned and shuttered. (Hence the name of the road SWEPI, which is an acronym for the old company name).  I talked with a friend that used to work at that plant and he said that when the plant was open, there was a 10' alligator they named Boudreaux that lived in the ponds back there.

There's a persistent rumor here in St. Charles Parish, just upriver from New Orleans that the Germans landed in U-boats and came ashore in some of the German communities like Des Allemans (which means The Germans) and bought bread and other supplies.

tabula rasa: Andouille is typically the sausage that is used in these recipes, but you can use any good smoked sausage.  You should be able to find it pretty much anywhere in the country, and if not, there's this new thing called the internet, where you might be able to find it.

In my experience, the keys to a good gumbo are getting a good brown roux and using the cajun holy trinity (onion, bell pepper & celery).

I just made up a big ole pot of sweet-potato, andouille soup, with a little bit of cream, molasses and a splash of Wild Turkey to give it a kick.
