I'd have gone with House of Games for Number 9. And both of you missed my all-time favorite, The Friends of Eddie Coyle, with Robert Mitchum and Peter Boyle. I understand that many of these Criterion Collection movies are available for streaming from Hulu Plus.
And the situation is quite clear. If the man were not a professional homosexual, the issue of his sexual orientation would not have arisen. · 7 minutes ago
Rejecting his nomination because he's a former board member of Equality Virginia is no different than rejecting a candidate because he had been on the board of the Family Foundation or the National Rifle Association. · 21 minutes ago
Perhaps, but I suspect he would not have received many Democrat votes had he been active in the conversion therapy movement.
You fail to distinguish between homosexual professionals and professional homosexuals. · 14 minutes ago
You fail to know the situation, and are making knee-jerk judgments based on a WaPo article.
Haven't read the WaPo in years. Only the Washington Times. And the situation is quite clear. If the man were not a professional homosexual, the issue of his sexual orientation would not have arisen.
Fat Dave: Now the Republican Party of Virginia is back in the public eye portrayed as bigoted knuckle-dragging troglodytes, and our chances at a U.S. Senate seat and 13 electors have been severely damaged. After getting the ultrasound bill, which I supported whole-heartedly, passed, can't the social conservatives be happy for a while, or do they want to destroy the Party over denying talented, qualified homosexuals state jobs? Do y'all realize how many homosexual staffers get Republicans elected each year? It's the economy, dumb-dumbs. · 9 hours ago

I miss Blankely also. I console myself by reading Wes Pruden twice.
EThompson
Basil Fawlty: I cite The Washington Times with some frequency here on Ricochet. It continues to astound me that the paper is not listed under the Ricochet "sites we like" section but the Washington Post is.
EThompson: Sigh... of...relief (!) that someone has finally quoted from my favorite D.C. newspaper.
Couldn't agree more. As a resident of Florida, the mega-WaPo was unable to provide home delivery, but the Washington Times has managed to figure it out! (As an aside, and while we're on the topic of the Times, I continue to miss Tony Blankley.) · 0 minutes ago

Yes. It is what it is. An effort to keep another clown like Vaughn Walker off the bench.
Trace Urdan: The bald reality of this story is that it is still better politics in the state of Virginia to be anti-gay. It looks like more members simply failed to vote for him than actually voted against him. So they could not be attacked later. I doubt that if his "political activism" had been in the service of eradicating child slavery or ending abortion rights, that his activism would have been an issue. It is what it is. · 3 minutes ago
And thanks to Sisyphus for his community organizing skills. It's always a good sign when a fair number of eager participants show up before the appointed time.
