I'm relieved to see that I'm not the only one disgusted by Mark Sanford's willful and selfish destruction of his family and by his hideous betrayal of his marriage vows. I weep for his wife and for his children. Every time Rob calls it a love story my blood boils and my stomach turns. Would it be accurate to say that Rob holds the typical Hollywood perspective on infidelity? Movies and romance novels are constantly romanticizing affairs and I think it only perpetuates the failure of marriage in our society.

Even if you exclude the toughest combat arms roles for women, the work is still rough. They are still going to have to maneuver and operate alongside other combat units like armor, infantry, combat engineers, etc. I've watched an armor crew try to break track and untangle concertina wire from their road wheels in knee-deep mud in the middle of an operation. You want the most effective, not the "fairest," people to do the job and defend their comrades in the process.

Yeah Monica! WOLVERINES!

Don't want to deploy? Get pregnant. That already happens. Now imagine that happening in a crew- or squad-based combat unit where each highly trained member is crucial.

Barkha Herman: Or, choice wins.

King - where as I agree that standards must not be lowered for entry into any profession; is a penis really required for combat?

Granted - I have no expertise in the matter - but do enlighten - what specific use is the penis in combat? · 1 hour ago

Absurd.

+1 to Foyle's War

+1 to David Suchet as Hercule Poirot.

I also love the new Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. And I really enjoyed the BBC's Luther

*is it just me or is this site really buggy when using an iPad to post comments?

Has anyone tried to persuade Mona Charen to come to one of our meet ups? Isn't she in the area?

Seven rounds doesn't seem all that arbitrary. Don't most semiautomatic handguns hold more than seven cartridges? And it will be up to the firearms industry to manufacture and sell NY-compliant magazines for all those handguns out there in NY that hold 8+ rounds within the year. Otherwise, anyone with a typical semiautomatic handgun will be a criminal. Unless, of course, they have sold their magazines to someone out of state by then. Seems like they're trying to force out semiautomatics altogether.

Speaking of whining and complaining . . . Geez, Rob. I'm only 16:45 into this podcast and I'm ready to bail. Whining and complaining about whining and complaining has become Rob's "thing."

As long as there is a liberal media, the Republican candidate will always be "dangerously conservative."

I've been looking forward to this. And counting on it. Why have we seen nothing on the site about it?

Fairfax County, VA - 10:30am. I usually vote around this time of day with each election since 2008 and I've never seen our polling site so packed. It usually only takes me about ten minutes so I brought my preschooler with me. This time, however, the line took about 45 minutes just to get a paper ballot. There's further wait for electronic voting if one desires. Lots of voting machines and lots of paper voting booths. As LagOs in Arlington said, a quiet and sober crowd... except for a volunteer at the Democrats' table practicing her ukulele and singing.

This is a blue precinct that had loads of Obama signs in 2008. In 2012, there are few Obama signs and a good amount of Romney signs. I think we still went blue in 2010 but it was a little close.

ChristmasBeard

Hm. Why couldn't the Senate vote Obama in as VP if the House voted Romney as Pres? What would that look like?
