Buzzword-o-rama.  Sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher.  I still can't tell what the job is.  Define diversity.  Define inclusion.

What about eyelash vipers?  We have eyelash vipers in San Vito (Panama border, Pacific side, at about 4,000 feet).  They are very pretty, sun themselves on big laves and fall on you as you go by.

Where in CR are you, Simon?  Besides San Vito I have friends in Manuel Antonio.

Long ago I did one of those online quizzes that told me I was quite libertarian in my outlook, so I investigated it a bit more and found that, yes, I am quite libertarian.  My daughter, now 18, came to libertarianism on her own, eventually becoming the president of her high school's club, organizing a political conference there last fall.  Like any other faith/ideology, there are issues where I differ from the strict line, but I do believe less government is better government.  Local entities are much more aware of what is needed;  the cookie-cutter programs emanating from DC are wasteful and unhelpful.

The only movie I have ever seen that was as good or better then the book was "Jaws" which is not great literature.

Severely Ltd.: In light of the unholy collaboration of General Motors, the United Auto Workers Union and the U.S.Government, what position best describes you?

1) I'll never buy a new GM vehicle.

2) Never say never, but I probably won't.

3) I'm not thrilled with them right now, but I could see buying one in the future.

4) I Don't participate in political boycotts.

5) I'm definitely getting an over-priced, under-performing Volt.

4, but I would never buy a GM vehicle ever again.  Had one in the mid-80s and it was a piece of junk.  For the same $$ I can get something much better built and more reliable.

What did I miss?

Bob Laing: 12/13.  I screwed up the question about the most common gas in the atmosphere.  Looking at the other scores posted here, I'm concerned I qualify as a low information voter now. · 5 hours ago

Same.  I also answered warming gas question wrong on purpose because it offended me so.

My avatar is the great Deborah Voight portraying Brunhilde in the recent Met Opera production of Wagner's "Ring Cycle".  The promo photos were inspiring.  We are a horse-y family so double prizes!  One day I will host a Ricochet meet-up at the Met, and am hoping to get Jay Nordlinger to join us.

One can only hope so!

A number of years ago I was visiting England, and went to the Museum of the City of London.  In the first room is a big mural depicting average temperatures derived from core samples.  It covers tens, or maybe hundreds, of thousands of years.  It is as regular as a heartbeat.  The dot for today is near a  peak.  Recently I revisited, to be sure I remembered this correctly.  I did.

This is my major problem with the Republicans.  They just want to make more laws.  I truly believe we have more than enough laws, and maybe we should have less, but maybe, I dunno, like, ENFORCE them?  Am I insane.

Happy birthday!  What a wonderful tribute!
