We are at war with Islam.    No polls needed.

The truth about is on the Internet, not in the MSM.  At least not in the Washington Post of the New York Times.

It is their problem.  We should stay out.

So do I but I work out of my house.  Makes life simple.  Time for silly stunts.

In front of the Texas state capital in Austin on Friday the 23.  There will be people from both side of this issue.

I plan to be there on the ricochet side.

I trust that no Islamic symbols will be allow at work?

Not likely I think.

As much as limiting comments to people that have paid, the tone on Ricochet is established by the comparatively large number of people who post using their real names. (I write recognizing that the first two comments on this post are by people using pseudonyms.) ยท 18 minutes ago

I prefer to respond to someone who uses their real name.  It seems that a picture going with the name is even more honest.

This student loan scandal is the single part of the occupy movement I can understand.   Being in debt for years without recourse to bankruptcy is bad.

Government backing to student loans should stop.

Then, and only then, the law should be changed to allow bankruptcy to get rid of this type of debt.

A web search reports that there are likely shale gas deposits in Mexico and even Russia.  Poland just completed its first shale gas well.  Not just the US but the entire world is about to experience a shale gas revolution.

Massive supplies.  That and shale oil too.

James,

I have that Nordhaus article in front of me right now.  In there is this wonderful quote:

"While some claim that skeptics cannot get their papers published, working papers and the Internet are open to all."

Nordhaus slips by the FACT that "working papers" and stuff posted on the Internet do not count toward Tenure for a professor, and can be dismissed by true believers simply because they are not published in a refereed journal.

Nordhaus is ...   Well, fill that in yourselves.

Actually, the California brownouts and blackouts a decade back were the result of a botched government scheme to lower electric power rates.  The dysfunctional, profoundly brainless regulatory regime enacted--unfortunately termed "deregulation," with all the awful PR consequences--led directly to power shortages, Enron-engineered price spikes and, eventually, the recall of Governor Gray Davis

No argument.  Just saying that gas powered power plants are now an important part of the California energy generation.    A simple web search came up with many examples.

Steven Zoraster

A saving grace is that more power plants powered by natural gas are coming on line.  Brother out in California tells that older plants there are being switch over to gas.

He say that is why California has not had power shortage for over a decade.

I am not confused.

1) They hate us. They being Islamic extremists in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Libya, Yemen......

2) We must leave. Tomorrow if not today.

3) We should invest as much as possible in domestic oil and gas production.

4) More domestic nuclear power

End results:   Arabs back to riding camels instead of living high off the money we pay them for oil.  And the Afghans walking instead of living high off the money we currently spend in their nasty country.

Downside for Afghanistan?  They will not be able to afford as much ammunition and might again learn to shoot straight.  Still, if the only people to shoot are their neighbors....

Get out of Afghanistan and drill in North America for oil and gas. Drill here like crazy.

And will Obama do either of those things?  I fear not.

Flew in a B-17 here in Austin a few years ago.  Thought about dropping bombs on the UT football stadium as we flew over it.   Probably better to have bombed the capital given the way UT football is worshiped here in Texas!

Failure of the Republican Party to field a viable candidate.
