Drudge Report Becomes Sludge Report

Matt Drudge’s media links compilation has been one of the sites I’ve checked every morning for the last decade. The Drudge Report always had links to sites with stories I would not see on my trusted sites. I say “had” because I am weaning myself from it due to the dramatic shift in bias I’ve observed, especially in the most recent months.

The Drudge Report has become part of the leftist media cabal slanting coverage to defeat President Trump.

There were dramatic revelations in the plot to get Trump this week–virtually ignored by The Drudge Report.

DOJ dismissed the charges against General Mike Flynn because of clear, unequivocal evidence of the FBI’s plot to entrap him by circumventing normal White House clearance procedures just four days after the inauguration. In his own testimony, James Comey bragged about sandbagging Flynn.

Obama DOJ and Intelligence apparatchiks swore to under oath before Schiff’s secret basement hearings that they had no evidence of “Russia collusion” by Trump’s campaign. Yet they claimed the opposite contemporaneously on national television. Clapper was the worst, calling President Trump a Russian asset controlled by Vladimir Putin.

The Drudge Report ignored or barely reported on these “bombshells.”

However, this morning’s Drudge Report has links to the following stories prominently displayed: 1.”Docs show top WH officials buried CDC report;” 2. “Trump’s 2020 Jobs Bet Unravels;” and 3. “Will he claim election fraud if he loses?”

I’ve read unconfirmed reports that Matt Drudge sold his Drudge Report in 2019, but I could not find any details. No matter. The current content of The Drudge Report is proof enough that someone who hates our President has acquired it.

About a week ago I noticed that Drudge linked a story at the top of the page from David Christopher Cole, also known as David Stein.  Wikipedia has 9 links for this person’s page which state that the Jewish David Cole is a Holocaust denier, and one of the wikipedia links is the American Spectator.  (Apparently this guy supposedly thinks the Holocaust death number is closer to 4 million instead of 6 million as he found survivors who were counted among the dead or something…)

Matt Drudge comes from a Jewish family.  The only other Jewish Holocaust denier I recognized on the wikipedia list is Bobby Fischer who seemed go completely crazy near the end of his life.

Anyone consider Instapundit as replacement for drudge?

    https://pjmedia.com/instapundit/

I have long preferred Instapundit over Drudge.

I too go to Instapundit. Left Drudge quite awhile ago. Bonus points: Instapundit links to Ricochet posts – for instance this one. Congrats @Michaelhenry.

Realclearpolitics is my first stop each day. Point/counterpoint, left/right arrangement of opinion pieces. Best of both generally. Mostly I just read the righties but good to scan the lefty takes to stay informed.

Drudge is dead to me. Went from righty alternative news to lefty tabloid news.

I’ll second that. I’ve been an Instapundit fan for some time. Ace of Spades also compiles a good selection of interesting links; between those two sites I haven’t missed Drudge at all.

Ace of Spades is sort of my “bad boy” check for the day after Instapundit and Powerlineblog. Ummm….both have links to Ricochet sometimes. Is there a theme there?🤔

Ace of Spades – great morning compilation of links with commentary by the compiler.  As Colleen noted, Ace is my “id” read.  He says the things that need to be said and I want to say but am too often afraid to say.

Is it news?  Is it entertainment?  Or is it a floor wax and a dessert topping?  Almost everyone in the news business has always been short on facts and long on opinion.  Trust no one.

Yes.  I dropped Drudge Report in mid 2017 when it was obvious he’d gone full Russia, Russia.  Anyone who bought that bilge is unreliable.  Instapundit replaced as my home page.   PowerLine is great too.

I subscribe to the secret sale theory.

but one has to think that somehow it’s about $$$, or at least an attempt at more $$$.

You mean like Air America was to radio???

Sorry, H. I think you’re wrong (on the internet). It’s because the Left cannot tolerate dissent. Not one cable news channel, not a single late-night comedian, not a movie production company (whatever happened to Walden Media?), and not a news aggregator. Lefties want a lock on all forms of transmission media for the narrative, and they’ve come pretty dang close to achieving their goal.

The Drudgereport has almost nothing on Hollywood or the networks now, and that tells me it’s not Drudge.

And it’s not just Trump.  Whoever runs it now doesn’t like any of the conservative leaders.

I have written numerous emails to Drudge accusing him of going over to the dark side and with other serious objections to no avail. I can only suggest that we all write daily to drudge@drudgereport.com daily with objections. Unfortunately, the influential DC and NY press go to him daily where he is an important source. His numbers are scarily impressive: 957,814,353 PAST 31 DAYS.
