I Want to Go to a Restaurant

I want to go to a restaurant.
I want to wait to be seated.
I want the hostess to ask me if this table is alright.
I want to take a long, deep sip from the water glass, a water glass that is full of ice and has droplets of water running down the side like glacial meltwater.
I want to examine the appetizer list like I’m choosing a college major.
I want to know what the soup of the day is.
I want the server to tell me about the specials. I want them to ask me what sides I want with my meal.
I want to hear the muted clang of the silverware as it rolls out of the napkin, then revel in anticipation as I tuck the napkin into my lap.
I want to savor each bite of my food, knowing that someone was paid good money to make it come out just right.
I want the server to offer me dessert. I want to decline their offer because I am just too full.
I want to sip a cup of coffee as the taste of the meal I just ate lingers in my mouth.
I want to tip my server for providing me this wonderful experience.
I want to smile politely to the hostess as I leave and thank them for an excellent meal.
I want to go back to a restaurant, and I want to go back soon.

I want to parse the bouquet of smells.

The faint smell of the commercial dishwasher that tells me I am in a restaurant, like I went to as a kid

The smell of dessert wafting over from the dessert case distracting me from the task at hand of ordering my food.

The smell of each piece of food from nearby tables making my decision harder by the second.

According to my credit card bills, I last had a meal at a restaurant on 3/9. Last takeout was 3/14.

Why do you want to kill minorities, women, children and old people?

My wife was just saying she wanted to sit down at a restaurant.   Some of our favorite restaurants are not going to make it.   I am pretty sure we could eat at some of them safely if it was legal.    I would also like to go to a Bar & Grill for a burger and a beer or three.

I want to go to a restaurant too, but I wouldn’t right now if I could. I’m neither stupid nor a wimp. I’ll settle for curbside carry-out for the time being.  In fact, Maine lobsters from Clyde’s are on the horizon.

Went to Costco today with my wife.   It was fun,  Spent tons of money on food.   Bought a KIRKLAND SIGNATURE CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE to drink with the Carryout Steaks my family wanted tonight.    Dinner was great, wine was better.   Everything, including a lessor but more expensive wine,  would have been better sit down.,

You don’t buy wine, you only rent it.

KC BARBEQUE!!!! Jack Stacks, Joe’s, Slaps, Q39, I want to go to all of them in the same day!!! Cheesy corn, pulled pork, brisket, BURNT ENDS!  One or two hard ciders to accompany the spicy, juicy chunks of meat, onion rings from Jack’s, warm fudge brownie topped with homemade vanilla ice cream and hot fudge sauce, food to dream about…..

We missed the Easter buffet. Now we’re going to miss the Mother’s Day brunch if Governor Newsom has his way.

    Kevin,

This is a lot bigger than any domestic problems you might be experiencing. I’m talking about a mission from Gd.

I oversee underwriting for an alternative commercial finance firm. A not insignificant portion of our portfolio is restaurants. You’re right. Most won’t make it.

It remains to be seen what businesses will survive. The ripple effect is vast.

I want to to my club.  I want the staff to greet me with there usual, “Hello Mr. ToryWarWriter.”  I want to have my first glass of decent Shirazz brought to me by Ben the waiter, who is a fellow gamer, and knows what I want with out asking.

I want to sit in the main room and have the portrait of the Queen loom down over me.

I want to have real good food brought to me as I sit under the head table of a 100 year old club.

What.  I have money.  Dont judge my capitalism and old world ways :)

If I had that kind of money,  I would spend it that way also.

I want to get a haircut then go to a restaurant and have lunch with friends.  We can have lunch together at home, so why not out?

What’s the first restaurant you would go to? I’ve already made plans for my first restaurant trip.

Interesting question. My heart says Mexican, (there’s a good Gringo-style Mexican place near me), but honestly, I am craving a steak more than anything else right now.

There are probably a half-dozen places I would love to frequent again. Some of them sufficiently remote from my house that “take-out” is not an option even if they are doing that. A Ruth’s Chris steak, a Piatti pizza or ravioli dish, a Lemon Grass Vietnamese curried chicken dish, an El Jarro Mexican Cafe burrito or chile relleno dish, a Jack’s macaroni dish, and Scoma’s fish and chips.

I’d like to go to a place called Keenan’s in Termonbarry for an Alpine Ice. It’s a sort of merangue topped with ice cream and toasted nuts and caramel sauce in the shape of a mountain peak.
