Life Imitates Art: Dog Drives Car
Looking for a bit of relief from the Congressional circus? Everyone loves a good dog story, take it as you will. In a break from Florida man stories, we have a Florida dog story:
Some Port St. Lucie neighbors watched a dog get the ride of a lifetime. It was stuck inside a car spinning in reverse for nearly an hour.
…Police say the dog’s owner had briefly stepped out of the car when the dog somehow knocked the car into reverse.
Police say they were able to stop the joyride by punching the passcode into the driver’s side door. But, not before the dog took out a mailbox, a trash can, and moved some bricks in front of a home.
“He was doing pretty good until he hit the mailbox. He went around for about an hour without hitting anything at all,” [neighbor Anna] Sabol said.
Everyone knows dogs love car rides, so we are not surprised that the black Labrador jumped out of the car wagging his tail. If this sounds vaguely familiar, you have seen this story before, if told with better-produced video:

Our chocolate English lab was waiting for us in the car once, and she pressed her paw down on the button that locked all the doors. The windows were cracked but not enough for us to be able to reach in. We had to call the police to come to the house and open it.

Great story!
The family dog, Mac, was a true Florida dog. He never drove a car, be he was a masterful escape artist and had a reputation around the neighborhood. There were a few times that the police knocked on the door to explain that they had picked up a truant, mischievous Red and White Setter.
On one occasion, my mother walked out and shouted to him. “You wait until your father gets home!”
Mac just wagged. He always just wagged.
There is hardly anything more happy than a dog going for a car ride!! Our dear old Jed loved our long trips to visit the grandmas!
Dogs love trucks
I love the Subaru Golden Retriever commercials. They make me want to buy a Subaru, and I’m in the market for a new car. Never owned a Subaru before but have had Goldens for over 40 years.
I love the dog photos, stories and commercials. I have a silly, goofy, naughty little rescue Cavalier male and an older rescue Cavalier who is always a perfect lady. They both love car rides and create hours of joy. But neither one is big enough to drive a car.
Mission accomplished.
Mr. CowGirl and I have said for over 40 years, that if you see a Golden in a commercial, then the subliminal statement is:
BUY THIS PRODUCT…there is a Golden Retriever in this commercial and that signifies that whatever is being advertised is perfect for your family; and your whole life will be improved by owning this product. It is Golden Retriever certified!!
