Mitt Romney’s Gary Hart Moment

In 1987, with rumors circulating of affairs, Gary Hart challenged the media to follow him around. They did and soon found out that he was having an affair with Donna Rice. In an article published Sunday, Mitt Romney revealed that he had an anonymous Twitter account. The reporters looked for Romney relatives who had few followers and soon found out that the account was named “Pierre Delecto.” It’s now been made private, but people took screenshots. I assume that these have not been doctored.

Talk about an unforced error. If Mitt had not revealed the existence of the account, it’s very unlikely that its existence would ever have been discovered. It was established in 2011 and no one had commented about it. It only took reporters a few hours to figure out its name. He looks like a hypocrite, attacking Trump for acting unpresidential while using an anonymous account to defend himself.

Only the true hardcore #NeverTrumpers seem to be putting much into Kasich reviving his 2020 primary hopes. Softer #NeverTrump types like Jonah Goldberg, and others who’ve dealt with Kasich and his personality when the cameras aren’t on, tend to eviscerate him as much as they do Trump, albeit for slightly different reasons.

Jonah Goldberg is one of the anti-Trump types I trust. He has a lot of seriously libertarian sensibilities and he’s genuinely against big government and he can explain the problems it creates. He’s very smart.

People like Tom Nichols and Bill Kristol are just insane.

Goldberg has layers of incorrect assessments of Trump that propel him to be more and more uncharitable.

A minor example of this would be pointing to Trump’s use of a family crest that he plasters on everything. To Goldberg this is evidence of Trump’s narcissistic obsession with being seen as nobility. But it’s obvious to anyone who has read Trump’s book that he is just trying to strengthen and promote his brand.

Right. I get that he is doing some of this. What I’m talking about is his model of governance and economics.

So many of the Republicans that hate Trump either don’t get the dysfunction of big government or are they are effectively for it. It drives me crazy.

There are shades of #NeverTrump, which was the point I was trying to make in bringing up Jonah.

He disdains Trump and Kasich about equally, while others with far worse cases of Trump Derangement Syndrome have given themselves over to the “The enemy of my enemy is my friend” type of thinking. That’s to the point the not only would they revel in a Kasich primary challenge to Trump, its virtually a dead solid lock that whoever the Democrats nominate in 2020 will have their support next November. I’m just not sure how “True Conservatives for Liz” gets you back ideological leadership of the GOP in 2021.

The other version of this that gets me is, there are Republicans that don’t give a damn about the lack of due process in this stupid “impeachment inquiry”. They don’t care if it’s fair or dependable they just want harm and supposed “dirt” on the President.

This is the first time in history we have connected “impeachment” with no clear misconduct. It has never happened before. They are using government powers to persecute Trump and there is no one guy accountable like you would normally have in the justice system. It’s just a mob style witch hunt.It makes me sick.

Everyone needs to see The Lives Of Others and The Death Of Stalin. The Democrats are simply throwing up chaff because they are scared of the IG report and the investigation into the Steele dossier. So many of the Republicans that hate Trump are so stupid about this.

Here is a fair discussion of Ukraine. https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-daily-signal-podcast/e/64757557

Another thing. I was listening to Dan Bongino’s podcast. The reason Rudy Giuliani was sent to Ukraine was he was trying to sort out how much everything got poisoned by Nellie Orr and Fusion GPS. She literally went there.

    EDIT

Devan Nunes said the same thing on Hannity. he had to do this as his personal attorney.

Even without the bunny suit, having your candidate down on all fours is not a good look. Hopefully the PR person who put that together has found a new line of work. Or is working for Elizabeth “I’m gonna get me a beer” Warren.

Particularly bad because of one of Warrens nick names.

I had just came back from the final launch pad close out inspection for a satellite that I had been working on for the prior 4 years. As one of the senior mission thermal guys I do that with the senior mission system guy after each of the instrument teams, and the spacecraft thermal guys, do their final inspect. My part of the this ritual requires being the one of the first, and then last in the small clean room at the top of the launch pad (dance floor limited to 10 I think). I watch as the pad techs encapsulate the payload, so I get to be one of the last set of eyes to see the observatory before launch a few weeks later.

I was in my suit for the better part of 7 hours, and was in the de-gowning area a 1/4 mile from the pad where everything I was wear was going into the laundry (or trash for the gloves, mask, and booties inside the boots). Despite being in a heavily air conditioned room at the top of the pad it get hot and sweaty while all of the final check offs, remove before flight covers, and thermal blankets are checked for correct attachment. So everything I was wear goes thru a special laundering process before it get reused again.

The ears was just a bit of celebratory release after a long final integration schedule.

We don’t get the opportunity to let off much steam as we get to the final strokes before committing to launch. It’s like the military in that you do a lot of hurry up, then long waits, then do your bit of the choreography, then get out of the way.

    Interminable logistics.

Yeah. He’s against big government-and so am I.

Socialism is Super Big Government and going in the wrong …close to the waterfall, direction. Let’s quibble …after we keep the socialists forces from taking over, OK?

These people are infected with a nerd-like inability to comprehend working people. They believe we have a lesser stake. Maybe that’s an alternate – and more forgiving description of “elites”. They just don’t understand.

I don’t want to see them overrun by the hordes, they don’t deserve that kind of treatment. I’m trying to warn them about a consequence to their lack of understanding.
