Now That’s What I Call an Apology
I don’t usually watch South Park because it is at times, shall we say, a little crude. But it can also be wickedly funny. Apparently, its latest episode was disrespectful to China, causing it to be banned in China according to Fox News.
Of course, being 2019, that led to a groveling apology by the show’s creators:
Like the NBA, we welcome the Chinese censors into our homes and into our hearts,” Parker and Stone wrote. “We too love money more than freedom and democracy. Xi doesn’t look like Winnie the Pooh at all. Tune into our 300th episode this Wednesday at 10! Long live the great Communist Party of China. May the autumn’s sorghum harvest be bountiful. We good now China?
Still laughing…
The name of the episode is “Band in China” and The Federalist has a link to the episode on its website.

I haven’t watched South Park for a while. That episode was amazing.
I just watched it myself. Crude but wickedly funny, as I said. Those guys have guts, I have to say.
Now I want to watch the Rainforest episode again. Thanks!
I have never watched South Park. Now I shall.
South Park exploits all issues and parties with equal disdain. Doesn’t get more fair than that!
Love these guys! And they got a slap in on the NBA. Two-fer!
Hahahahaha! Ray and I got a kick out of it when we watched it last weekend. Hilarious, and right on point!
Every time I think South Park is old, tired, and should hang it up, they do something brilliant – like this “apology,” for example!
Team America: World Police remains one of the most savage take-downs of Hollywood liberalism ever…Fair warning: It is not for the squeamish!
This is just another reason why I’ve never stopped watching South Park. Could I be doing other things in life instead of watching a show with 300 episodes and counting? Sure, but why?
You’ll finally understand the ‘underpants gnomes’ theme!
“Oh Bother….”
I had just watched this episode when the NBA news broke, so it was the first thing I thought of.
I almost showed it to my wife, but she’s a big fan of Winnie the Pooh so I decided I better not!
They should so an apology episode that is so over the top that it is an obvious parody.
We can expect no less. They have a real integrity about their show. They wouldn’t have made it if they were going to apologize afterwards.
Wise
South Park used to get labelled as center-right, which would probably make them far right by today’s standards. I haven’t watched the show in years but I would be pleasantly surprised if they did not resort to making everything about Trump like every other show. Is that the case?
You have to watch the uncensored version. I have it, and I LOL every time I watch the sex scene . . .
Don’t watch if you don’t like to see bodily fluids.
Not really. For 1.5 season, there was of course a lot of Trump (Giant Douche Vs Turd Sandwich in 2016) and a bit into his presidency in 2017. Matt and Trey even explicitly said they wanted to cover other things besides Trump. A lot of the last 3-4 seasons are about PC culture, especially with PC principal as a big character.
I really want PC Principal to die.
Unless they did a return to the theme, the Giant Douche v. Turd Sandwich episode was in 2004.
Their episodes about bringing Whole Foods to South Park were hilarious.
They brought it back. Mr. Garrison is Trump, the Giant Douche in the 2016 election, which makes it even more absurdly hilarious. And really the Giant Douche vs Turd Sandwich identifiers are much more appropriate here.
At least someone somewhere is standing up to the Communist Chinese.
All I can say is: #cancelsouthpark
I would say their politics are libertarian, which may be one reason they tend to skewer both sides. The first episode of this season, “Mexican Joker,” was a pretty harsh critique of ICE, family separation, and detention centers on the border — and it was hilarious.
