Daughter’s Band in DC Memorial Day Parade

I believe it was Senator Steve Daines who nominated my daughter’s school band to play in Washington, DC this coming Monday. The band, which ends its yearly spring concert with a hearty rendition of “Stars and Stripes Forever,” was honored to accept. Glacier High School will be wearing green uniforms, and we can follow along with the event live here.

Of course I’m happy and proud, but I’m also looking forward to having my kid back safe from DC next week, done with plane rides, and ready to graduate on the first of June.

Cool!  You’d better send me a PM right before, though.  (I’ve gotten a bit forgetty since I turned 2-1/2, and I can’t remember but I may have always been this way.)

Oh, thank you so much, and I am so looking forward to watching her and the band.

I assume they’re “chaperoned” by faculty, etc., but how do they get around?  Buses?  Heaven forbid they have to take the Metro! [I kid, I kid]

How fun! My high school band played in DC for some occasion, although now I do not recall which one, and it was a blast. What instrument does she play?

She plays flute and/or piccolo in the marching band. :-)   What did you play?

Edited to correct Steve Daines’ title. He is senator, not representative.

I watched pretty carefully, but could not identify her, nor the band. Green uniforms on one of the early bands but could not read the banner heading. If you get some video, please put it up so we can thank her.

They just went by about seven minutes ago. They are behind the nurse-kissing photo float.

I’m getting a live feed much more relevant to me from the Glacier High School band Facebook site. You can try liking or joining their FB page. The live feed is showing up in my FB app on my device, so you may have to click around a bit to get it to go. Someone is following them and recording.

What a gift to us parents from whoever was rushing around and recording the bulk of our kids’ performance. They sounded great.

From the fundraising to local publicity to enthusiastic live FB viewers, our high school’s honor has had wonderful community support.
