Robert Mueller Delivers Report to Attorney General

According to news reports, Robert Mueller has delivered a report to Attorney General Bill Barr. Fox News:

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has submitted to Attorney General Bill Barr his long-awaited report on the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential race and possible collusion with Trump associates — marking the end of the politically explosive probe and the beginning of a new battle over its contents and implications. Mueller is “not recommending any further indictments,” a senior DOJ official told Fox News.

Mueller was appointed to be special counsel by deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein to investigate why President Trump fired James Comey after Rod Rosenstein recommended to Trump in a memo that Comey should be fired.

Coverage is already all over the place. Everyone is trying to get their narrative fixed in the public mind before the public ever gets a chance to see any documents for themselves. My guess is that it really doesn’t matter what’s in the report for pro and anti Trump partisans. Dems don’t want to give up their fevered dreams and won’t be made to do so until November 2020 at the earliest regardless of what the report says. Trump allies will put lipstick on any pigs that might actually be in the report.

Me? I am willing to wait until I can actually read something. I think we will be given the opportunity, but can we keep an open mind until then?

I encourage everyone to calm down and to wait to read the doggone Mueller Report before spouting off.

Also, I am leery of believing an anonymous DOJ official.

I have maintained that this whole thing was tainted from jump, and no matter comes out, permanent violence has been done to the legitimacy of our vital institutions.

There will never be closer to this, and no healing is going to happen.

The Deep State used the unlimited power of the government to try to find impeachment fodder or something that could be spun as impeachment fodder.

    Is that fair?

I think that Jonathon V. Last (“JVL”) has the most wise conclusion about the Mueller Report.  He writes:

“Two weeks after the public finally sees it, most of the people who dislike Trump will be arguing that the report is terrible for Trump. And most of the people who like Trump will be arguing that the report vindicates Trump.

“Fights like this never end conclusively. The subject is too big and complicated to give a single, clean inarguable answer. And people’s partisanship is too strong to override a consensus consideration of the merits at scale.

“Put it this way: There is literally nothing that Robert Mueller could present that would cause most Republicans to turn on Trump or most Democrats to decide that he’s innocent.”

I agree entirely.  I am looking forward to reading the report to come to my own conclusions.  His article is found at:

Indeed. The Collusion-Truthers will continue to insist that the collusion simply wasn’t found yet.

And I’ve already seen speculation among the journos that Putin got to Mueller. Seriously.

The problem with your and JVL’s position isn’t that you can’t cut Trump any slack. We would view that as unexpected and insincere anyway.

No, the problem is you refuse to confess the deep corruption of agents of the government, including virtually all the agency heads during the Obama administration: Clinton, Clapper, Brennan, Comey, and then working our way down the food chain to Rosenstein, Strzok and Page, among others. Nothing Trump has ever done in his lifetime has come close to approximating the damage to our republican institutions done by these people. I, for one, do not consider your position respectable until you can admit that.

Orrin Hatch retired.  The current President Pro Tem is Charles “Chuck” Grassley of Iowa.

President Pro Tem Grassley is fourth in line to be President after President Trump, Vice President Pence, and Speaker Pelosi.  However, Trump, Pence, and Pelosi are all still in office.

This is not about the “deep state” nor is it about any of the rest of what you have said.  I think that JVL said it best:  “There is literally nothing that Robert Mueller could present that would cause most Republicans to turn on Trump or most Democrats to decide that he is innocent.”  I think that you are in the former group.  I am in neither group; I want to read the doggone report for myself.

Why should I bother reading it, Gary? You and your ilk at Bulwark have already decided that no matter what the report says, I will claim that Trump has been vindicated.

So let’s save some time : There has not been, nor has there ever been any collusion between Trump and Russia to sway the election.

Neither DOJ nor Congress have so far bothered properly posting the letter, but we may be fairly confident that the leaked copies are faithful to the original.

Or we could read over the “respected Republican” Bob Mueller the indictments! Enough already, it’s ‘cut bait or fish day’, ‘shit or get off the pot day’. They’ve monitored Trump’s communications, spied on/tried to entrap members of his campaign, arrested & confiscated his personal lawyer’s files, squeezed/jailed associates in hopes they’d implicate him or his family and … nothing.

“Mueller Time” is over! Deal with it.
