The Clinton Foundation and the ‘Deep State’

In my line of work, I take great interest in investigations by law enforcement. Especially that of our federal government’s law enforcement. This is headed by the Department of Justice and specifically by the Attorney General of the United States. This position has been described as America’s Top Cop. You naturally want to think of this function as possessing the highest of integrity and being one hundred percent apolitical.

Boy, has the past couple of years been eye opening or what?! The DOJ, FBI, DHS, DNI, DNS and CIA have not only revealed themselves as extremely partisan, they have been going public about it in the most abasing way. Book tours?! Embarrassing, if you ask me. You would think your average ‘G man’ would scrupulously guard their secrecy, personal privacy and be ultra low-key. I know I do. But I digress.

To me, it is as plain as the nose on your face. There has been a lot of political ‘stuff’ going on in our federal law enforcement and “justice” has been kicked to the curb. There is a deep state. A yuge segment of “embedded grifters in the bureaucracy” (hat tip @franco), with friends in the media and political commentariat. And this group absolutely loves their country clubs, cruises and concertos. How dare this intruder disrupt that! Both the G men and the commentariat were united in this resistance.

But, there have been several “dustups” between the supporters of the President of our (this is a right of center website, right?) political party, and those whom resist and stubbornly join the democrats in constantly attacking him, his ancient(?) history and his current tweeting (or whatever). In the dustup over the VDH book The Case For Trump, one of the things that these resistors (can I call them that?) have to do, in order to find ways to shame and stigmatize the so-called “bad actors in the conservative elite”, is to ridicule this belief in an embedded bureaucracy. A deep state if you will. They refuse to acknowledge any of the facts that exist and have been reported upon in depth for the past couple of years which prove this case. They call it a “conspiracy theory” and those who believe conspiracy nuts.  Yes, VDH got a laugh out of being called an “elite” by the elite grifters and a nut by the nuts themselves, but he also took on this denial of the entrenched bureaucracy with facts and substance.

Anyhow, as I was saying, I think that it has been factually proven that the DOJ, FBI, DHS, DNI, DNS and CIA are in cahoots with the DNC. And now a story today from Townhall.com by Matt Vespa … Oh, So This Is Why The FBI Couldn’t View The Clinton Foundation Emails …

Now, we have ex-FBI lawyer Lisa Page saying that there was an order handed down from the DOJ to the FBI, telling them not to charge Hillary Clinton for mishandling classified information on her unauthorized and unsecured server from which she did all of her officials business when she served the Obama administration as secretary of state. And now, there was supposedly a deal between the DOJ and the Clinton camp that prevented the FBI from viewing Clinton Foundation emails (via Washington Examiner):

So, my question is … who at this right of center website can argue that this embedded bureaucracy of grifters doesn’t exist?

    Evening Columbo,

What has been curious to me, is that corruption in a bureaucracy is common, it is a hazard,  this type of corruption can do serious damage to the country not only during our current political season but for years.  This type of corruption can take root and become a hidden government.  Yet, this corruption in the intelligence services, and in the IRS has been treated lightly, as if it is just the cost of having a large government.  One could say that this muted response is the typical media pillow smothering of news damaging to Democrats, but many of our Republicans, who have now found that they are against executive actions, have remained remarkably quiet, curious, isn’t it.  This is another reason why I love Trump, he is the MRI of the hearts of politicians.

. . .who at this right of center website can argue that this embedded bureaucracy of grifters doesn’t exist?

This is a great post.  And worthy of considerable discussion.  Since I’ve proven on a number of occasions to be a glutton for punishment, I’m going to propose a significant modification, however.  The common element here is that any number of Democrats (or liberal Democrats, if you prefer) have found themselves in positions of authority/influence in what used to be right-of-center agencies.

Why is this?  Because, to a considerable extent, government employment for at least a generation has been a viable career choice for those of the Democratic persuasion.  The money’s pretty good, and you can “cross-over” later in life.  You have influence, as we’ve seen.  And unfortunately, any “commitment” you’ve learned as a younger person can be funneled into what you think is “right.”

From the perspective of the center-right, this isn’t a good thing.  It isn’t.  But most of the people who are doing this, do not think that they’re wrong.  Strange as it may seem, most think they are doing right by the country.  I would question their fitness due to questions of impartiality, but not necessarily due to their perceived role as scoundrels.  As you can tell, I don’t buy “Cahoots.”  Embedded yes, but it comes naturally, without any kind of grand conspiracy.  That doesn’t change the substance, but it does change, to an extent, the intent.

I wasn’t sure about the “deep state” label at the beginning. But too much has come to light in the last couple of years. It would be foolish and naive to believe there wasn’t a deep state. I’m not that stupid.

And I never thought it was any coincidence that Obama bought a house smack in the middle of DC instead of just going AWAY.

Something I think I’ve said before:  making your living as a conservative pundit doesn’t require you to actually believe the stuff.

In particular, the ones employed by the liberal media know that their real job is to put on a somewhat convincing show, and lose the argument.

And when it’s really important, their job is to explain why all “true conservatives” must agree with the liberals.  Just this special one time … and the next … and the next …

Can you elaborate what ‘cross-over’ involves?

I do agree that the ‘deep’ or ’embedded’ state is nothing more than a natural growth of bureaucracy. The subject matter being put forward by Democrats currently as the 2020 election campaign gets underway is an early warning. The resolution of the current attacks on Tucker Carlson and Jeannine Pirro coupled with the shift in executive management and Board of Directors at Fox News bears watching.

It’s a good thing we have Trump, otherwise we would be done already, quietly..

Mostly, Big Law.  Representing corporations/individuals who have a problem, lobbying etc.  Most of those folks pictured are pretty young.

Thanks, I guess it had to be in an area related to the government/corporate complex. That’s what these folks know. We are seeing some of that in the Trump investigations. And the OP is about these people and observing how nothing is happening in regard to their misdeeds. Interesting times, indeed.

More to the point of the O/P, it’s an open question whether the prospect of future employment is an influence on the decision-making process.  There are major firms that lean left and major firms that lean right.  Did Andrew McCabe see a better future because of his actions?  My guess would be “yes.”  Those further down the totem pole (Lisa Page), who knows?

These Homeland Security agencies (like the military) have two tracks.  The political track that ends up in D.C. and the operations track that stays in the field offices.  Clearly the D.C. office is completely corrupted by political savvy partisan hacks.  They belong in the 5 circle of Hell.

The rage at MSNBC is that when Trump is out of office the Trump Organization will be dismembered by the SDNY and New York State using RICO, labeling the Trump Organization as being a corrupt organization.

I think that that is likely a bit more probable than the attacks on the so-called “deep state.”

Yeah, MSNBC has been getting almost everything right lately. They don’t have a major defamation suit against them like CNN and the WaPo. Your choice of words makes it sound as if you don’t see a ‘deep state’ at all.

I think that the allegations of a so-called “deep state” is extremely overdone.  Lois Lerner was part of the deep state but I don’t really see it in the FBI and DOJ.

I think that the massive repudiation we received in 2018 shows that Americans are far more concerned about Trump’s excesses instead of the so-called “deep state.”

Or we could dump Trump and win the Presidency, and maybe take back the House. We lost the suburbs big in 2018.  But without the Trump albatross, we could have a chance in Orange County, OK-5, SC-1, NM-2, and GA-8.

Some of us are old enough to remember with Congress forcefully disagreed with you and took action accordingly. Two words: Church. Committee. Here are the reports. We are 4 decades removed, so it stands to reason, if only as a matter of human nature and organizational theory, that the same agencies would be re-infested and need another thorough fumigation.

But they are targeting people you want targeted, so there is nothing to be seen here.
