Breaking: Hope Hicks Resigns WH Post

White House communications director Hope Hicks, one of candidate and President Trump’s longest-serving advisers, has announced that she will leave the administration. From the New York Times:

Ms. Hicks had been considering leaving for several months. She told colleagues that she had accomplished what she felt she could with a job that made her one of the most powerful people in Washington, and that there would never be a perfect moment to leave, according to White House aides.

Her resignation came a day after she testified for eight hours before the House Intelligence Committee, telling the panel that in her job, she had occasionally been required to tell white lies but had never lied about anything connected to the investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

Multiple White House aides said that Ms. Hicks’s departure was unrelated to her appearance before the committee. They said that she had told a small group of people in the days before the session that she had planned to leave her job.

She did not say what her next job would be, and her departure date was unclear, but it is likely to be in the next few weeks.

“Hope is outstanding and has done great work for the last three years,” Mr. Trump said. “She is as smart and thoughtful as they come, a truly great person. I will miss having her by my side, but when she approached me about pursuing other opportunities, I totally understood. I am sure we will work together again in the future.”

Hicks has been one of Trump’s most loyal and long-serving aides. Who do you think should replace her?

    Don’t mess with Gen. Kelly.

    Don’t get involved with wife-beaters.

    Life is easier that way.

I can already see the headlines: “White house Hopeless”

If it where not for the bad timing, Laura Ingram would probably be a shoe in. But she just started a new gig at fox. She’s probably contractually tied down for quite some time there.

What are Andrea Tantaros or Eric Bolling up to?

I loathe the revolving door of (gov and media). Yuk !!  This is part of the Ruling class problem.  Nothing against the people you suggest OCDN.

A lot of federal political jobs (as opposed to civil service federal jobs), even at federal agencies, are relatively short term because of the intensity of the work. It’s a lot of work to supervise a massive agency, even a part of it, to make sure that it doesn’t run amok.

…because it isn’t responding to markets on an organic, bottom-up basis.

I can’t imagine what the solution for that is.

Me, too.  So if we rule out media and politicians – although there are some in the media I might endorse – how about certain denizens of Ricochet?  Maybe Stad, or Mrs Ink, or DocJay?  Susan Quinn would be a good choice.  Their communications are pretty clear:  In fact, now I think about it, there are lots of folk here that I wouldn’t mind seeing there.

I agree, there is definitely a sycophantic class serving the political class, and they reside in media or academia until they are called up to serve in some capacity in either an election campaign, or as staff. These forays into government and politics only serve to bolster their resume when out of office.

But I think these are the type of people who are being considered for the job.
