Pitfalls, Stupidity, and Danger – Kurt Schlichter on 2018

Kurt SchlichterAs we conclude a year where the news never stopped breaking, we are happy to welcome back Kurt Schlichter, one of the most prolific writers today. As a columnist at Townhall.com his articles are a must read, as well as his fast-paced books which can be found on Amazon.com. Kurt is the author of the novels Conservative InsurgencyIndian Country and People’s Republic.

Col. Schlichter (Twitter: @KurtSchlichter) was personally recruited by Andrew Breitbart to write conservative commentary. He is a successful Los Angeles trial lawyer, a veteran with a masters in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College, and a former stand-up comic. Kurt is often seen on Fox News, CNN, and other media.

In this episode of Whiskey Politics, we discuss Kurt’s 2018 prognostications, whether we will see Nancy Pelosi regain the speakership, thoughts on the GOP establishment, Wisconsin Nazis, Mueller, CNN, what’s left of the anti-Trumpers, and why its important for conservatives to no longer care what liberals think. We also discuss California and why everyone should be watching “The Crown” (as said by two guys who usually hate anything to do with the royals.)

Check out our previous 88 episodes at Ricochet.com, Whiskey Politics audio podcast @iTunes, Stitcher or GooglePlay where your 5-star rating and review would be appreciated! Whiskey Politics is also on Facebook and Dave can be followed on Twitter.

We’ll see you all in 2018. Happy New Year!

Every time I’ve seen Max Boot over the last year he’s been mad enough to spit nails.  At Trump voters, or anyone else who doesn’t agree with his anger.  This strikes me as having limited utility if you trying to convince conservatives of your position.

    He’s embarrassing himself.

I realized how entrenched this problem remains when an African-American friend — a well-educated, well-paid, well-dressed woman — confessed that she did not want to walk into a department store carrying in her purse a pair of jeans that she planned to give to a friend later in the day. Why not? Because she was afraid that she would be accused of shoplifting! This is not something that would occur to me, simply because the same suspicion would not attach to a middle-aged, middle-class white man.

I must suffer from oppression too, because I wouldn’t do something that stupid either. Apparently only Max Boot would. Maybe he suffers from Max Boot Privilege.

Whether they would suspect me now doesn’t change the fact that for years they would have, and that I therefore would also never do something like that.  I used to get followed around by clerks, because I didn’t look like I had any money.  It’s not black or white, it’s green.  The same is true for most of the other examples of ‘white privilege’ I hear about.  There’s a distortion of what being white gets you.

But he and several others have real anger problems, and it is blinding them to how that level of vitriol and opprobrium is going to be perceived.  They would do well to study people like Milton Friedman, who could twist the knife with a chuckle.

Ahh, the operative word there is ‘study’. Some of these kids have become indoctrinated to think they are ‘privileged’ and now feel that’s the only education they need. Oh.. and gender studies.

Resume crossed my desk this week for an entry-level position. No joke: “Master Of Arts In Gender, Women And Development Studies”. She’s not gonna be paying back her 6 years worth of student loans working here.

What Dave said about Dick Cavett a million times. We had no idea how good we had it with him in the media and entertainment.
