Halloween Sonnet
Just a little something fun for the season. This is not in my book, so enjoy!
Published in Literature
Cute.
When I was a kid, I always skipped the houses with “dusty shutter slats.” Who knew what was inside?
Miss Merrijane, we may live in the age of prose, but your poems enchant. They’re wonderful things. Kent
Very.
Very cute and very charming.
Merrijane! You’ll need to get this into your next book. Very cute :)
I love this kid’s pluck.
” . . I throw my fist against your door . . ”
” I stand rebuffed . . .”
Rebuffed and ticked.
With every read, I’m more enchanted.
I’m printing this out to show my daughter.
This one weighs in on the ‘treat’ side of the ledger.
Congratulations on the book!
I’ve received notice that your book of poetry Messages on the Water is on its way to my doorstep :)
I hope you find a few you’ll enjoy
The cover, alone . . . . . . :)
This is very good. I can’t wait to share it with my 7 yo twins, they will love it.
I read each day of Trump, of Never Trump, of Trump haters, of political correctness. It.makes me weary.
Your sweet poem made me smile. It brought a lightness to my weary heart. It reminded me of fun times.
Thank you. Thank you very much.
My book is now available at Amazon (click here). If you’ve already ordered and read it, please feel free to leave a review. So far, it’s only been my brother and my mom, which is SUPER EMBARRASSING.
Trust me. That is still better than someone who gives a one-star review because the book wasn’t what they thought it would be. Mind you, not that the book was bad, but that they expected the story to be different.
Oof. That’s hard.
It’s even better with bunches of grammatical errors, such as “to” instead of “too.”
” but I carve petroglyphs and hope
someday you will walk this valley,
read these brittle stick figures,
and clothe their bones in resurrected flesh.”
It is guaranteed.
What a powerful metaphor from the heart of a wonderful poet.
Thanks Trink. There is no greater gift to a writer than to be read and appreciated. ?
