Rock the Vote!
Amidst news of moderate Senate Republicans reneging on their long-made promises to repeal ObamaCare and President Trump publicly chastising his Attorney General, speculation has swirled about the 2018 race for the United States Senate in the state of Michigan. Debbie Stabenow, who has held the seat since defeating Spencer Abraham in 2000, is likely to seek re-election to a fourth term. Among her possible Republican opponents may be one Robert James Ritchie, better known to the world as rap, rock, and country recording artist Kid Rock.
*record scratch*
Kid Rock?! That’s right. The loud and proud Michigan native issued a press release on July 26 in which he stated he is exploring a possible candidacy:
…the media has speculated this was a ploy to sell shirts or promote something. I can tell you, I have no problem selling Kid Rock shirts and yes, I absolutely will use this media circus to sell/promote whatever I damn well please (many other politicians are doing the same thing, they just feed you a bunch of [redacted] about it). But either way, money raised at this time through the sale of merchandise associated with this very possible campaign will go towards our ‘register to vote’ efforts.
One thing is for sure though…The democrats are [redacted] in their pantaloons’ right now…and rightfully so!
It ain’t just the Democrats, believe me. I’d wager not more than a few establishment Republican office-holders and bow-tied conservative pundits are likewise reaching for the smelling salts. But they should not be surprised, for the election of Donald Trump was just the beginning of the bitter harvest they are now reaping.
On the other hand, such hand-wringing may all be for naught. At the conclusion of his statement, Kid Rock says that he will be making a final decision on whether or not to run within the next six weeks. And there are some mitigating factors for him to consider, such as his lack of political experience and the existence of a sex tape.
Nonetheless, should Kid Rock decide to run, he will have my full support and perhaps even a donation to his campaign. I would do so for the same reason I donated to and voted for Donald Trump last year: the political establishment has failed and continues to fail this country.
Just like John Paul Jones more than two centuries ago, the Deplorables have not yet begun to fight.
Published in Politics
You’re damn right.
This was a good piece in Politico that offered some background on Kid Rock and the appeal that he may have. It has the requisite pablum for a Politico piece, but it is still a worthwhile read.
He has a sex tape? OMG, I didn’t know he had that going for him too!
(Before you think I’m nuts, look around at our society at what happens to people who have a sex tape.)
He was also married to Pamela Anderson.
…and [redacted] in their pantaloons.
Beautiful.
“and all my heroes in the methadone clinics”
This just keeps getting better. Now he has the guys-who-were-married-to-Pam-Anderson demographic too?
Better his sex tape than seeing one by Debbie Stabenow…
But who wasn’t?
Well, the rest are not from Michigan, so they won’t be able to vote for him there.
What are you? Some kind of #NeverRocker?
That’s just what I thought when I read this! A sex tape is only an embarrassment if you’ve posed as a Puritan….plus I abso-redacted-lutely ❤️❤️ the way he talks!!
The best part is that is casts the left as the Puritans, if they want to make an issue of it. Which leaves them pushing for open sexuality, porn and anything goes tolerance for 50 years, and then being upset people actually do those things.
Can we all shout, “Hypocrisy!” in unison. :D
No, just one of those guys who believe people shouldn’t be able to vote in multiple states.
Judge, you are so right–it is the Left who are Puritans–just like when they pretended to be so shocked by Trump using the P-word.
A few weeks ago the Dems were all 25 th Amendment, they wanted to create a new “body” which could recommend Trump be removed because of mental unfitness–and what did the Dem announcing this (already forgotten) effort say?
“He is not a gentleman.”
Oooooooh…..take that, you…..bounder! You cad!
Hey, Dems: the 19th century called–they want their hypocrisy back!
The Dems. have more celebrities than we do and more people who will knee-jerk vote for the party than we do. We probably have a couple of Senate seats where they may run celebs.
Who due you think she got her STDs from? Or at lest that is what she claims.
This will make liberals and certain unpleasant Never Trumper conservatives go nuts. I love it.
Is Kid Rock a real life Danny Crane? (Not COC compliant). One can only hope.
Thank you. I never watched Boston Legal but am amused when I see clips like that. It did foreshadow Trump a bit.
If he were elected, then went on tour and never showed up to vote, not even once, we’d be far ahead of what we currently have in Michigan “representing” us.
He does have a certain je ne sais quoi.
I’ve seen that one before.
“The chair recognizes Senator Bawitdaba from the great state of Michigan.”
With snark and condescension, Jim Gerghaty begins the pearl clutching:
I just realized that there is a possibility of hearing, “The chair recognizes SENATOR ROCK from the great state of Michigan!”
I would suggest that he carry a guitar when he is on the Floor of the Senate.
And Johnny Rotten for his campaign manager – YEAH!

stabenow’s husband was caught with a hooker. She has since divorced him, I guess. But, the sex tape thing is oh hum compared to politicians screwing voters.
Doesn’t everyone?
