Mama Toad, this is also a wonderful post because it has the potential for bringing everyone together. No matter where you stood before the election, we can all share our hopes for the future. Good job!

I still think Newt for Press Secretary is genius. I miss the old Rumsfeld briefings (the last time I regularly tuned-in to press conferences) and, although he was an old guy, he seemed to relish them.

But, if we’re going to put Bolton at State, we should send Newt to the UN — preferably to defund it and throw it out of our country!

Maybe for White House Counsel, too old for the court, sadly.

As difficult on some levels as it may be, Trump would do well to reach out to at least one (or more) of the primary candidates he beat. This would be a good first step to begin to consolidate the party and build bridges. I would nominate Carly Fiorina for either treasury or commerce.

Elliot Abrams should be either State or a Senior Adviser.

I want Newt in the White House with Trump.

Christie in the White House too.

Gulliani appears to be AG for first couple of years.

Carson will presumably get something if he wants it.

    Alex Jones for press secretary.

I don’t think Richard has the administrative skill set for AG, and he is too old for the Court. (Sorry, Richard, but we were both born in 1943.)

I would go Mike Lee for AG and Ted Cruz to the Court.

Press secretaries have to be really young with good memories lots of energy  and not giant egos.  They have to read and remember all the issues and news, know all the Presidents positions and be skilled at not answering and never tend to wing it.    That’s not Newt.

I agree with Newt in the White House.  He knows how to get things done in Congress, and a Trump White House will need someone with these skills.

Bolton to State seems a no-brainer.

And definitely!  Ted Cruz to SCOTUS!

    MamaT,

Amazing that nobody hasn’t already said it. Rudy Giuliani for AG. Before becoming mayor of NYC he was a tough federal prosecutor who was very good at “high profile” cases.

    Regards,

    Jim

Good idea. And he probably will do some of this. Cruz, Walker, Jindal, Rubio even, but not Jeb.

Bolton – Sec of State (lots of stables to clean at State and he’s the man to do it)

Guiliani or Christie – Attorney General (ditto to SOS)

Kudlow – Secretary of the Treasury

Kelly Anne – Chief of Staff

Gingrich – untitled, free floating “personal advisor to the President” AND head of NASA and NSF.

Palin – Secretary of the interior

    Ben Carson – Surgeon General

    Gen. Flynn – Defense

    Santorum – HUD

That’s all I got for now.

    Wouldn’t that be great?

What about Newt? What will he do for the Trump administration? He should get a cabinet position.

    Secretary of State.

Sorry, John Bolton should get that.

I just read a couple of articles that say Newt is being considered for SecState. I’m happy with that, too, of course. Newt needs to be closer to Trump, though. I don’t know about chief of staff but certainly an adviser. Newt is darn good at chairing things and running things — make him a mister fixit, perhaps.

Chief of Staff is what I thought as well. He would do well as the policy guide, not so well in the minutiae of leading the White House staff.

Indeed.   Please note well this distrust among your supporters and among those who would be inclined to view your administration charitably, Mr. Trump.

Perhaps Herman Caine could be on a short list for some economic posts?

And perhaps Rand Paul could be given the job of managing paring down a select agency or two.

Giving Romney the VA is truly inspired.  It would show more magnanimity in victory, building on that wonderful speech this morning.  It would be an olive branch to the NeverTrumpers.  Most importantly, I think Romney could actually clean it up.  Remember what he did with the US Olympics.

    I suspect Romney would accept.

Cruz his second appointment to the court to to replace Ginsburg or any of the liberals,  just to watch all the heads explode.

How about Russ Roberts to CEA? he’s among the few economists who know how little economists understand.

For Atty General he needs to sacrifice someone ready to retire, who can fire everyone hired during Obama and then some including all Federal prosecutors in regional offices.  The place is a cesspool of radical leftists.

Or any federal court if he’s interested.

Also, I think well of John Cornyn.

Also, practically anyone from his judicial list to any federal judicial position.

If he is honest about changing the system, then may I suggest starting by ending the tradition of using cabinet positions to pay back supporters and staff. Give us a clean start by picking the best qualified for the jobs.

And Anthony Weiner for Press Secretary.
