And You Thought North Korea Was Evil

From the Catholic Herald UK:

China’s Evil Secret

A Miss World contestant is exposing a practice that the communist regime doesn’t want you to hear about

The scalpel cut into the chest and blood gushed out, recalled an unnamed policeman in Shenyang, China. At that time, we had been interrogating and severely torturing her for about a week. She already had countless wounds on her body. We used electrical batons to torture her.

The policemen described how a secretive government office had sent over two men: one a military surgeon, the other a graduate from a medical university. “No anaesthetics were used. They cut her chest with a knife without shaking hands, he said.

When the woman, who belonged to the banned Falun Gong movement, shouted out in defiance, the surgeon hesitated. But after a nod from his superior, he continued. It was extremely horrible,” the policeman said. I can imitate her scream for you. It sounded like something was being ripped apart.

When I look at the Choose A Category box for this essay I’ll have to admit I’m not sure there is a choice that can express my anger, and then the sadness that I feel for this woman who died such a horrible death. My faith tells me that the angels cried out to God for vengeance. My faith also tells me that God is not Santa Claus and there will be judgement.

She was murdered for her organs, organs that will be made available for transplant, transplant for a profit.

Today in China thousands of prisoners of conscience – potentially including unregistered house church Christians – are strapped to operating tables and cut apart by force. Their vital organs are then extracted and sold for use as transplants. In China, surgeons’ scalpels have become weapons of murder and those who wield them have become accomplices to a barbaric trade.

A new report published in June claims that forced organ harvesting is now occurring on a scale far larger than previously imagined. The researchers conducted a meticulous forensic inquiry into the public records of 712 hospitals in China carrying out liver and kidney transplants.

They concluded that between 60,000 to 100,000 organs are transplanted each year in Chinese hospitals. One hospital alone, the Oriental Organ Transplant Centre at the Tianjin First Central Hospital, is performing more than 6,000 transplants a year. China officially claims 10,000 organ transplants per annum, but the authors contend that this is easily surpassed by just a few hospitals. The evidence points to what human rights lawyer David Matas called the mass killing of innocents in his testimony to the US Congress.

This brings me to the film The Bleeding Edge. I have not seen it, but I plan to. We spend so much time trying to avoid looking at evil in a vain effort to believe that evil, if we cannot see it will cease to exist. Which is the fondest hope of those that practice evil, to include those that provide, and those that participate in Organ-Tourism.

The screening of The Bleeding Edge, hosted by John Bercow, Speaker of the House of Commons, was a significant step forward in an international campaign to bring this evidence to the attention of policy-makers. Earlier this year Anastasia Lin and the journalist Ethan Gutmann testified at hearings held by the Conservative Party Human Rights Commission, along with Dr Enver Tohti, an Uighur surgeon who admits to having conducted one operation to forcibly remove organs from a prisoner. “In China, the government does not treat people as human beings,” he said.

The US Congress and the European Parliament have passed resolutions condemning forced organ harvesting in China. On October 11 there will be a debate in the House of Commons. Soon after that the MP Fiona Bruce will table an early day motion calling on the United Nations to conduct an inquiry, and urging Britain to ban citizens from travelling to China for organ transplants (research indicates that some Britons have travelled to China for this purpose). Campaigners are also urging the Government to gather statistics and ensure transparency around so-called “organ tourism”. They want Britain to consider a travel ban on medical personnel and government officials in China who are directly engaged in organ harvesting.

The Bleeding Edge won an award earlier this year from the Catholic Academy of Communication Professionals, which praised the film for its “artistic achievement” and said it “enriches with a true vision of humanity”. Pope Francis has described the organ trade as “immoral and a crime against humanity”. Catholics in Britain should watch the film and join the campaign to urge our Government to work with others to end this horrific crime.

    Doug,

Many people still can’t wrap their head around the threat of an amoral Marxist state. We are in a new age of communication. This crime can not remain hidden. Only willful blindness can allow it to continue.

This post got me thinking: which regime is more evil, ISIS or Communist China?

The odd thing about ISIS is they are proud of their evil deeds: when they decapitate prisoners, set them on fire, and so forth they post a video online for all the world to see.  And most of the world now hates and fears them as a result.

China does things that are just as evil, on an industrial scale, but because they hide it in the shadows they don’t earn the same degree of worldwide condemnation.

I saw it several days ago. I almost decided not to post this story. I prepared a word document with the links. I had the same feeling you did. I thought about it for the last two days and then finished it this evening. I had the same feeling you did. This is so barbaric.

I made the decision to post the story today, the 29th of September because on this day we celebrate the three Archangels. After I read the Office of Readings in today’s Liturgy of the Hours I made the final decision. Hence my reference to angels in the post.

    St Michael
He is mentioned in the Apocalypse as the leader of the heavenly host. He is a patron of soldiers.

    St Gabriel
He appears in the book of Daniel to explain some of the prophet’s visions, and was also the bearer of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

    St Raphael
In the Book of Tobit, he is the angel who heals Tobit of his blindness. His name means God heals.

The Salve Regina in Night Prayers appropriate at anytime will be especially poignant tonight.

I remember hearing shortly after Pope John Paul II passed away that he had written about the dangers of organ donor programs. Perhaps it was actually Pope Benedict XVI, when he was still assisting Pope John Paul.

Perhaps I can find it somewhere.

So, how should China be confronted and penalized/persuaded? When trade sanctions are discussed here, everyone’s hair starts on fire but I don’t know of any other way to force them (and their psychotic pit bull North Korea) other than trade sanctions. “We’ll sell them the rope to hang themselves” – and the rope factory is an American owned company or “partnership” with the Chi-Com’s.

They should have never been allowed in to the WTO. People talk of ‘blow-back’ when we armed Afghanis and Pakistanis in the 80’s – we’ve been enriching China  and investing in this barbarity for a couple decades now.

The whole UN is quick to condemn Israel for defending herself. Nary a hint of any kind of barbarism from the communist and muslim countries. Nothing will be done to stop it because too many corporations and businesses have billions of $$ to lose if sanctions are instigated. What has the world done to stop the slaughter and sex slave trade in the last few years by ISIS? Not much, the world doesn’t care except for a few crybabies like us. Where is the mass exodus by the free world to get the Christians and other non Muslims out of the countries where they are being slaughtered, or sold into slavery.

Soros who backs BLM has made no effort to save any lives, and apparently all the big donors of the Clinton foundations haven’t either. But they all want to bring into this country hundreds of thousands of barbarians and dump them among us.

I am afraid it will be sooner. It can be twinned with euthenasia programs… “let go, so that others may live” might be the PR campaign to convince people to terminate their lives.

Actually, now that I think about it, this DOES happen now. See here.  Kevorkian here.

The reason we oppose euthenasia programs is because people can easily be pressured into death, especially if they are depressed.

Pressure, and compulsion, are on the same gray continuum. Remember that in the UK, the NHS has admitted to letting newborns die without parental consent based on the midwife or doctor’s opinion. Then the organs would be harvested.

This is such rank evil. And yet I have no problem imagining it happening. Once we dehumanize the deplorable other, their lives have no value.

In a world of relative morality, I fear there is no backstop. This story should dominate our priorities with China, but it does not, and it will not. Our so-called betters lack the courage to know what is right, and be willing to take it to its logical evil: we must openly condemn evil.

Americans cannot even be bothered to be outraged by PP harvesting organs from fetuses and selling them. I have trouble imagining enough will be outraged by the PRC’s barbarity to form any type of political block in favor of punitive trade measures.

“…sell us the rope with which we will hang them.” Indeed.

There are ethical concerns about organ donation in our own country and I’m working on an essay that highlights the concerns of a respected surgeon. I appreciate the fact that this particular essay is difficult to read but silence is a taking a stand whether people want to admit or not. So I thank all of you that have read this essay as well as those that have posted their comments.

Despair can lead us to silence, and feeling helpless and withdrawing from the world. What can I do about it? The first answer is prayer. Offer up the anger and despair, prayer is a conversation with God. Pray for the victims, yourself, and the perpetrators  as well. That’s the starting point.

Considering what was revealed about Planned Parenthood this year and the relative non-response from the left at large, we are here — just in another way. I suspect this sort of thing might appear sooner than you’d think.

I was thinking Niven as well, though more of his short story about a man attempting to escape after receiving the death penalty for running a red light (if I recall, got to dig through my books).

Perhaps Mr. Trump would be more effective highlighting these crimes, as well as the barbarism of some of the regimes in the Middle East, and call for the defunding of the UN and the removal of its headquarters on American soil given its dismal record of undermining human rights by giving credibility and honored status to regimes that engage in crimes against humanity — rather than grousing about NATO and our allies in Asia Pacific.

I have no issue with hitting China on its trade practices provided it’s coupled with enhanced support or promise of support for South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan rather than bitching about them. The next president will be tested. Obama is playing golf somewhere I’m sure. Whether Clinton or Trump gets elected, we should anticipate aggressive moves by Russia, China, North Korea and Iran.

So far, none of the major candidates seem up to the job and none really speak with any sense of moral authority. Gary Johnson is a deer in the headlights. Jill Stein is a socialist who wants to eviscerate the military further. Only Evan McMullin has the street cred on national security and foreign policy but sadly not enough support because he was way too late to the game.

Does anybody on Ricochet have a method to get to Donald Trump’s ear? To bring up some of these evils and point out that Clintons have known about them and did nothing? It might be the first time some of his audience at his rallys have heard of them as well. There are serious and evil problems in this world and need to be brought up and debated. Too bad that when Michele Obama and her entourage were romping in China at taxpayer’s expense some of these problems weren’t shoved into her face. The Chinese by the way detested her.

I cannot even watch the trailer. But what exactly can be done? What kind of sanctions actually make a difference?

China is a “shaming culture” and they have enough vestigial shame to keep this somewhat hidden. The UN is the place for empty gestures, but could they have any influence if they chose to address this atrocity?

Maybe if all the leftist media people taking vast sums of money to shill for China were to speak out they could exert some pressure. But that’s a lot of money to lose when one has become used to the lifestyle.

I suspect that there are plenty of people who would support the activity if it was practiced more humanely or more secretly.  Supporters of the Chinese endeavor would not let this stop their endorsement. All they need is a little PR to hide behind.
